California Delivery Updates

I want to start a thread so everyone in CA that is waiting for a build can have an idea when cars are being shipped in.

I will update when my build gets closer to shipment. Currently a week 34 build...

Sounds good. I do not even have a build date yet having only ordered on 8/1/22. Already had an order placed for a '22 model, but they (Irvine BMW) then switched me to '23 and they had no allocations and no plan, just my deposit. So I cancelled with them and off I went to Riverside as that was the only dealership I could find with an allocation. Frustrating stuff.

Used to live in South Bay.

Dang that sucks. I had to go through 3 dealerships before I got mine. Build week 34 atm.

Here is my timeline. This is for a 2022 M340i which was ordered through Jon Shafer of Santa Maria BMW. Jon had a build slot when I contacted him so he modified the build to my specs and gave me a good deal. The car was built in Mexico, shipped up the coast to Port Hueneme and then trucked up to Santa Maria for delivery.

Production Begins - 06/15/22
Exterior Body Assembly Begins - 06/29/22
In Paint Booth - 06/29/22
Entering Assembly Line - 06/29/22
Assembly In Progress - 06/30/22
Quality Check - 06/30/22
Final Assembly - 07/01/22
Ready For Transport - 07/19/22

I think this depends on whether a dealer has the allocation. If they have the allocation then it shouldn't be that long. If they don't then they will have to wait until BMW allocates a build slot for them or until they can trade with another dealer to get one.

i was told they had an allocation but only got silence for ~3 weeks. then they called a couple days ago and said that they were going to "flex" an existing order. i guess some other buyer changed their mind and the dealer was able to revise the order as production hadn't commenced yet. i'm not savvy on dealership jargon so this involves a lot of guesswork on my part. they said production would start in 1st or 2nd week of Sept.
