M Fender Badge
I've seen a couple threads on this before but never got a clear installation answer. Figured I'd share my experience in case others are interested. I know the Eurpoean Spec M440's come with an M Fender badge but it's deleted for US models, so I added them back on. I first checked a number of G26 European spec pics/videos to confirm the fender location.
You'll need to order two of the following: 51-14-5-A1A-162 BMW OEM CERIUM GREY FENDER BADGE $44.00 Interesting they come on what looks like an install template. The face of the badges is adhered to a clear template making it easy to line up. To install I first used a piece of painters tape to ensure I had a crisp edge to line up the template along the fender crease. Then pealed the backing material on the badge, lined up the bottom of the template with the edge of the tape and the other edge with the panel edge. Pressed firmly against the car, and then peeled off the template face. Make sure to prep the paint first, in my case the car was brand new so a bit of water to clean the surface was fine. Using a little rubbing alcohol to clean the paint before application might be needed if your car has been waxed or has any deposits on the paint. |

I asked a European owner on a FB group to measure and they provided pictures of his measurement. The bottom of the template looks correct but the left side is a bit short. But looks great the way you have it

Interesting, is that on a Gran Coupe or a Coupe in your pic? It looks further in from the door edge than all of the European Spec pictures I reviewed online. Would have simply been nice if BMW didn't delete it for US customers, but I'm sure it's just about cost cutting. Although my G26 did come with cargo nets on the back of the seats...

If anyone reading this is tempted by the cheap knock off copies on eBay……don’t do it!! The coloured bits fall off in no time at all.
Saying this on behalf of a friend. Obviously. |

I just looked at pics of euro spec cars, eyeballed it, and used painters tape to get it lined up straight. Is it in the BMW spec location? Probably not, but I've yet to have anyone approach the badge with a spec sheet and a tape measure.

I wouldn't even want this on my car if I had an M3/M3C/X

PSA if you order black emblems as a port installed option, to my surprise it also includes a black M badge on the Fender (US). I'm not particularly a fan of it and I wouldn't have it added, but it doesn't look that bad either so I won't bother removing it for now.

A lot of these look like they are in different positions (or these different cars?)
I want my 340i to look like their euro counterparts so I asked the dealer to debadge the xDrive and get the side badges (all in black). I just hope they put it in the right place. |

Mine was done at the port, so I would presume they follow a template just like the model and xdrive badges. Some others have had theirs added afterwards so that's some of the variance.
