Do you mean flashing back your backup make your car not being flagged as tuned? I beleive you also re-lock your DME.

If yes it's becoming interesting, but I'd be surprised software wise they didn't add a flag like a new image has been pushed nor the DME has been unlocked / locked

Question I have a 2021 M340 with a DME past post date, is it possible to buy a used DME from a 2020 M340 below post date, clone it with my Main DME, unlock and tune it? Someone is willing to sell me a used one date on the DME is 6/20. Can this Work?

2020 - No hybrid

The DME wouldnt know how to run the car

I thought transferring the original DME data to the used will work? If not then Femto is the only one doing it I just wished someone in the US could unlock pass post date😞. Femto is 10 to 15 days turnaround with a service of 2K or maybe plus.

I brought the car in with the tune as I didn't/don't care about it being flagged. I'm already out of the original warranty period anyway.

That said, given the functionality, it is absolutely possible with M-Link to flash the car to a pre-tuned state before you go to the dealer, perform all necessary service/updates, unlock the DME again with M-link, and re-flash the tuned DME back-up. I believe this requires the more expensive Flashback license (read more on Mission's website or call Alex) and a pre-2021 vehicle.

I had my ECU back in 3 days. Sent it out Monday and got it back Thursday afternoon. I don't know where people are getting 1-2 week turn around times. DHL is very fast.

Nice! I assume you sent it out yourself? The 2 week turn around has been the only thing holding me back

I did send it out myself. The longest I have heard of someone waiting is 5-6 business days, but that's maybe 1 out of 10 people. I guess it really depends on where you live, but it should be a relatively quick turnaround time since Femto is usually able to ship out your ECU the same day they recieve it.

Only via Femto because they're the only ones that have the capability to read enough data to clone them. No other tools exist to clone the post 06/2020 DME besides Femto.

Just did my 2020 x5 40i, But it didn't give me an option to download the backup. did it you you an option or just automatically download it?

The backup saves to their cloud and on the Mlink itself

It depends on what version of firmware is on the M-Link. Prior to 2.2.3, it would backup local. 2.2.3 and later you have to save the backups to your folder path of choice. Can be on your phone, iPad, laptop, cloud storage. Your choice.
