I had my 2022 M340i with Laser lights coded for the anti-dazzle tonight! I worked with Ben from RG Sport to have it done remotely. I was sweating it for a while though. He was mid way through and had an error that was likely due to my ancient laptop. Ben stuck with it though and loaded the software directly on my PC and ended up getting it coded.

I took it out for a quick ride and it works great. It cuts a tunnel of low beam around cars as I approach from behind and I could clearly see the shifting of the beam as oncoming cars came toward me.

Overall for $99 and a bit of butt pucker over the fear that I just screwed my car up with less than 1000 miles on it, it was worth it.

It looks like the final approval for glare-free high beams have their final approval.

It looks like BMW enabled these for the Canadian market with a software update. Think they'll do the same for the US market?

Maybe I misread. Post 273 says it was enabled at some point, but that may be based off build date, not software version.

That was me.... I assumed Canadian 2021 model year did not include 5AP in their VO after reading:

1) Item 4.12 in the attached Release Notes Programming Passenger Cars, ISTA 4.26.3x.
2) BMW offering a retrofit service - https://www.bmw.ca/en/topics/offers-...eadlights.html

I now know my assumption is wrong since 2022 still included 5AP in their VO.

Looks like more investigation is needed to determine whether headlights on current vehicles "lights meet NHTSA standards and whether they can be activated in the future."

So, it is unclear, if, how, and when current models will be updated.

What are the "extra" codes that need to be performed to improve performance?

These are high-level steps I plan to perform on my 22 M340i.
  1. Remove 5AP from VO
  2. Code BDC_BODY3, HU_MGU, FML (both of them), KAFAS4
  3. Change the following in KAFAS4 via FDL coding:
    • COUNTRY_VARIATION Europe_RC [01]
    • C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH Rest of world [03]
    • C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH: Rest of world [02]

Not sure if this the last step is needed, found that on the G05 forum to impove how the antidazzle works.

I don't have working ESys anymore, all of my coding was back in the F-Series days, but want to get this taken care of on my 2022 G20.

Can I just use ESys and an old launcher to do the VO coding, and then take care of the FDL coding using Bimmercode? I assume not having access to translated CAF doesn't matter if you're only VO coding, no?

I am not sure that Bimmercode has access to all the modules to FDL code.

Totally depends on what you are trying to code. Bimmercode doesn't have all the ECU modules for FDL coding.

Whether you can enable, depends on two things - current vehicle packages and knowledge of coding.
