Great for company car drivers in the UK (with BIK). For private users who travel a high annual highway mileage, diesel still makes a strong case.

I couldn't get past the 330e performance and silence, so went with the 330e base model.
It does have the Live Cockpit Professional and Connectivity Pack, and the wheels are 17' (versus 16' on the lower engines). Agree the interior trim is poor, but going up to M-Sport would cost me 11k€ more. Was already exceeding my budget by 10k€ with this one (was supposed to get a Mazda 3). |

G20 318d vs 330e
Quote:
I am also in a decision phase in choosing between 318d and 330e and what you mention helped me a lot. Currently driving a 116d Sport Line 3 door Here in Greece a G20 318d model with full extras (automatic, M sport, laser, leather, professional screen system, 18 inches, HiFi system extra etc) costs approx. 56k and same specs and equipment for the 320d will cost 63k and this is not my budget However, the relevant 330e with same specs due to an BMW M Sport offer comes at 58k My concern is that at the moment there are not enough charging points for electric cars in the country and I may be running an 1850 kg car with a 2 liter engine with reduced performance and increased consumption. Further I am not sure about the 50/50 weight distribution of 330e. Could not find any comments I was also very concerned about the recent recall of BMW hybrids including the 330e for battery short circuit So, I am satisfied with your report on the 318d and especially your comment From my experience, day to day driving, it's gonna be the same if you drive a 318d or 330e. Both cars perform adequately for travelling and commuting and 95% of the time the road conditions will make it absolutely irrelevant which of these engines is under the hood Best Regards Basile |

What to choose? Base 330e or M-Sport 318d?

A gallon is circa 4.5 litres, so one can only assume that it is fully charged before setting off, otherwise that's some mighty fine mpg at 80mph 👍🏻 Don't quote me on this though 🤷🏻*♂️ |

By the way seelark, for some reason I'm seeing a lot of illegible characters when I read your posts. Not sure if I'm the only one. It's like when your PC doesn't have the prerequisite font packs to translate certain characters. Strange. Is it a Brexit thing? |

Regarding the emojis, I'm using my phone keyboard rather than the app emoji options. I need to find a legend so I know what each one is on the app : I'll refrain from starting any potential BREXIT debate? I witnessed a recent CV19 vaccine (will/will not/why not) discussion on the F3* forum that went mental to the point punches would have been thrown if possible. |

330e makes most sense if you can charge at home and/or at work. And if your daily commute is under 50 kilometers. For this scenario, 330e will save the most money as you don't need to start the gasoline engine at all. BUT, luggage space is more than 20% smaller, and there is a significant weight gain. For me, decreased luggage capacity is a deal breaker. Also, the ride is firmer in the 330e due to increased weight. So M sport 330e would only work with adaptive suspension. On passive dampers, it's far to hard for my taste. 330e to me is best in the touring version as luggage space is much less compromised than in the sedan.
