So what about the 320i in the US?
It looks like it is not getting a replacement. What about all those people rolling around in super cheap 320i leases?

BMW is clearly going for sales margin now so I’d doubt they made much $$$ on the cheap 320i leases.

I like the 320i. It’s a fun car. It’ll be too bad if they don’t continue to offer it. They sold quite a few of them to buyers who felt it had enough power for their needs.

The 2 series Gran Coupe is coming to fill the entry four door premium slot for BMW. It is a A/CLA and A3 competitor. The 320i was a price point stop gap in the USA.

Personally I’d just as soon they continue with the 320i. It’s a better car than either the CLA or the A3. And both of those get quite expensive when you start optioning them up with features and more powerful motors. I do realize that the FWD 2er GC will be more of a direct competitor to the Merc and Audi.

They might add a 320i later depending on how sales go. However, they're trying to move the 3 series a bit more upmarket and having a 320i contradicts that.

Audi has the A4 ultra or whatever, and its not making S4 buyers lose any sleep. I gotta say , and I'll call it out right here, this kinda classist need to keep the range to ourselves exclusive attitude is the worst type of car buyer. The 320i isn't a bad car. Yes its not as good as a 340i. But its a perfectly good decently fast RWD balanced, automobile. Does the 330i make M3 buyers not want to buy? Your logic is just mind boggling. |

BMW apparently agrees with me and is hiking the price and dumping the 320i. The BMW designers said they purposely designed the G20 to look different from the G30 because G30 owners were annoyed their cars got mistaken for a 3-series. Like it or not, people do care and they are well aware of this mindset. |
