There will always be a better version. But f it. I own an F82 M4 GTS. If another version comes about, I’ll judge it then

I thought M chiefs had already ruled out AWD. I can't see how it could be lighter again than the f8X with AWD.

Exciting car though if it lives up to these specs.

Mustang hood + Camaro lights + Alfa tail lights = BMW? I don't mind a more "futuristic" M3/4, but those rear lights are ugly and pasted on.

Might be annoying to have to refill the water injection system every 1,500 miles. But it's an easy way for them to get more HP and better fuel economy.

There's really no point in anyone commenting on the render. It's just a guesswork picture to accompany the real discussion of the specs....

Feedback welcome. Cheers.
They are not talking about an electric supercharger, but an electrically enhanced turbo charger. By definition, a turbo (from the word turbine) uses exhaust gases to boost the intake charge. The electric motor mainly provides an assist to keep the turbos spooled when ther is insufficient engine loaad to do so. This is the technology currently used in F-1.

After all of the traction problems that I had with my tuned N54 335i, I would get an AWD car in a heartbeat, especially a RWD-biased M car.

And the 48V electric turbos are going to be awsome for eliminating turbo lag.

And imagine using a methanol mix in that water injection tank...put on a software tune and you get an extra 100+ hp in no time.

This is going to be a great car.

It seems that the 500hp Giulia Quadrifoglio for the price of a regular M3 really woke BMW up, they can't just add 10-20hp and call it a new M3...

Very disappointed if manual isn't an option. Id also be very surprised if they could fit awd into it and still keep the weight down. I personally would rather have rwd and less weight then a gtr sedan.

See my post after this in which I added clarity. I completely understand the difference between supercharging and turbo charging, exactly how they work, and thus never thought I implied talking about an e supercharger.

IIRC BMW submitted a patent prior to the release of the F80/82 eluding to some particular design using electric turbos which I though would possibly make it to the F80/82. This isn't anything new, the Japanese have made this a thing for a long time.

OK, going to just break it down to the simplest and my hopeful benefit. I think..they can actually design headers that align with the firing order and pulses an I6 deserves, instead of headers that cater to purely relying on exhaust for [quick] spooling at the sacrifice of a lovely exhaust note. Thanks for chiming in friend.
