There is a solution. My friend have detailing center and uses films to protect any surface in interior, even the thin door trims and screens

There are several pictures, go right.

Note that the round displays won't get iDrive7 (or OS7 or what's it called), and so you want be able to choose most driving assist functionality or a HUD.

But the reviews have all said that Audi's multifunctional instrument binnacle display is what people want, not basic round dials.... if BMW just built the mythical brown manual diesel station wagon beloved of enthusiasts, there would be no BMW ten years, and it sounds like half of this forum wouldn't be that sad about it tbh.

I think it'll be interesting to see how/if BMW fits this display in M models. Hopefully they'll develop a display that can be toggled to different formats (including one that mirrors traditional dials) like Audi and Merc do.

To be honest, for me Audi has never had good dash. 20 years before it was streached Golf dash board and now is some space-nerd design

I've checked and as far as I can see he's right. OS 7.0 only comes with Live Cockpit Professional which includes the digital cluster.

Here's a video of the live cockpit in a new X5. Very disappointing imo.

Thanks! I've just watched the video. It looks plain and basic for now. Maybe it's better while driving.

I've used the MMI Digital Cockpit in my A3 for over a year now. It's pretty awesome, especially having the full nav display in front of you. But then again, my A3 doesn't have a HUD. My opinion - if there is a wonderful HUD (like in most BMWs), why bother with the digital dash? I still miss the HUD from my last F30.

I kind of see the idea behind it, it'll probably seem redundant to have a full map on the instrument cluster, then one on the main screen, plus HUD giving you arrows. That'll probably be overkill but the vertical speedometer is what baffles me

I agree. Same information on HUD, instrument and central screen is useless. So, it is display (instrument cluster) I do not see any reason why tuning houses can not make better graphic for speedo and rev counter. It is almost unlimited design. Alpina, Schnitzer and others can design instrument graphics and sell it as a kit

I don't think people are really hating on the digital displays. The peculiar part is the reverse tachometer and the non-linear non-circular design of the gauges. While I personally prefer simple analog dials, I'd be totally fine with digital dials as long as I had an option of choosing a more traditional layout. Or at least go full digital with no dials at all. What BMW has done with these strange shapes is just annoying.

Yeah, it will take some getting use to. But why not have a 'classic' setting with the traditional layout? It's going to be just a computer screen so I wouldn't think it would be that big of a deal to add one more mode, even if some of the new functions may then be unavailable.

Agree. It is a screen at the end. It could show vaious layouts.

Don't expect other visual modes for the instrument cluster. To have a second set of virtual instruments with the usual amount of visual quality is a lot of effort and takes years to develop.

I don't think it's easy, but Alpina already has original graphic for B7

It's graphical user interface (GUI) coding. It doesn't take years to code a GUI, but I agree with your conclusion . . . don't expect it. It's obvious that BMW has developed this as a new signature styling element, similar to their traditional dual gauge look. I'm sure it'll be updated along the way, but it looks to me as though BMW has stuck its neck out with this design.

If one does not order the Live Cockpit Pro, does the “standard” configuration includes analog instrumentation?
