It's like some of you people don't read any other posts after a certain point.

I'm no Porsche fan. There's a reason I own an M3 and not a Porsche. All reasons I have previously posted in this thread. Go take some time and read them.

Unfortunately, BMW seems hell bent on removing the reasons I bought an M3 in the first place. If I wanted a fast highway cruiser with 4 doors and a slushbox, I could get a M550.

At some point though, the advantages of the M3 will be overshadowed by all the attributes it no longer possess. When that happens, something like a Cayman all of a sudden becomes worthwhile.

If you think Porsche and BMW M are not cross shopped, well you haven't looked at many threads in the comparison subforum.
Lol as if I have time to go through every single post to see your comments. You're not that special dude. I only responded to one that I saw. If you don't like my response go buy a Porsche lol

Porsche is the only one that is better on the track and offers Manual.

The sacrifice is the seating for me too.

Something got to give... I already have 19' X5 for family.

The car at 1:48 in the video released July 23rd sounds like a manual on the upshift. Trying to identify the license plates as well but it’s hard to decipher on my phone. The ones displayed on the car at 1:48 look to be different than the other test mules. Perhaps there still is hope...(fingers crossed)

Exactly.

My Grand Cherokee fits the family role. It was just nice to have a sporty car able to do both reasonably well.

Agreed. Capable and lap times are irrelevant figures when you're daily driving a car. If the only option for this gen is going to be auto awd then why not just go with a better looking and better interior quality Audi rs4?

Agreed. My last two F80's have had MPE. The comp exhaust just doesn't look all that great.

LOL I forgot you were on there too. Thanks for the compliment, I really love the CS, true, but it is the biggest I want to go. Even if the G80 is lighter and handles better, it's the dimensions that hold me back. The M2 Comp or upcoming M2 CS is a strong contender for my next car too.

If they made a hard top M Coupe again, I would consider that too.

Z4 is too unfocused and not an M.

The Supra just doesn't have enough power.

First world problems.

The e39 M5 looks more like an M3 these days. Might strongly consider it if the G80 disappoints.

There will be manuals. You will have to wait a while for AWD version though..which will not be manual.

personally i wouldn't buy a manual, as i am happy with dct or auto, but i do believe that there should be a choice for those who want to swap cogs themselves.
unfortunately the sweet m-dct is going bye bye as well.

Not really...

First - Semi automatic trans- 1930s
3AT - 1950s
4AT - 1960s
5AT - 1970s
6AT - 1980s
SMG -1990s
DCT- 2000s
7AT - 2000s
8AT - 2010s
10AT- 2010s
??? - 2020s

Automatic transmissions are all destined to be replaced by a *faster* automatic.

DCT will look as slow and arcane as SMG 5-10 years from now and few will care because the newer faster (10AT for example) is available.

But since moving to the mountains, I've found there's 3-4 months out of the year I'm barely driving my M3. And I have a dedicated set of winter wheels for it, which work great, but it's not my ski sled, that's what the Jeep is for. Hence, maybe a more dedicated weekend/not winter car.

I've stayed away from Porsche, because IMHO, they are overpriced. Even a Cayman S I build is close to $20k more than what I paid for my M3 to get an equivalent build to what my M3 is.
I'm honestly so lost right now. The M3 used to check so many boxes, now I don't know what to do. Porsche is just so expensive in up front costs, and I want to DRIVE it, not baby it to keep the residual high. I think a used 981 is the way to go, but I have that itch for the latest and greatest. Honestly the new mid-engine Corvette is close to being undeniable at this point. I've never been a huge fan of the Corvette, but maybe this one will change my mind.
I absolutely agree. If I wanted a 2 door track weapon the new C8 may be the way to go. You know a 700+ hp version will arrive at some point. I really think this car will be a game changer. May force other manufactures to up their game a little.

Corvette always has been the best bang for buck even going back to C6 (when they really start to improve handling by a lot), really interests in how much C8 with Z51 and decent option will cost (70k ish?)

Isn't the muffler basically a functional part of the underbody aerodynamic system? I've seen some paint them flat black with high temp paint.
