What’s it like to own and live with the Cognac Interior?

Can someone with this interior in their G20 offer an opinion of what it's like day to day?

I looked at an M340i today with this interior. I love the color, but when sitting in the car, the combination of cognac + black + chrome is kind of overwhelming.

I like the black interior because it feels more uniform and cozy, but the Cognac by itself looks great.

I always think in theory I’d like Coral Red or Cognac or Oyster. And then I sit in the car and just go with black

I went with cognac. I like the color a lot, and received a lot of positive comments about it when I went to a local BMW meetup.

I wish the bottom half of the dashboard wasn't cognac colored (my F30 had an entirely black dash with dakota brown on the doors) but I like it otherwise.

I've noticed jean dye on the drivers seat 2 weeks after delivery, although I did not notice this with my F30 interior so I think it might just be the brand of jeans I switched to that rub off easier.

I got cognac and love it. I think it looks classy, but if I'm honest it does not work with all exterior paint colors.

I was going with a Dravit exterior so didn't want an all black interior. I considered Mocha, which is also nice, but wanted something a little brighter.

Thanks for your insight.

I’m going BSM + ash grey-brown trim, just can’t decide between black and cognac leather. I really wish the cognac was throughout the entire interior like the e39 M5 caramel, specifically the floors and back of the front seats.

Keep on top of the dye transfer and regularly clean your seats. If you wait, the transfer becomes very difficult to remove.

Check detailersdomain.com for products. Phil sells good stuff.

I've read you can stop dye transfer by soaking your jeans in vinegar/water mix. Google it.

I think BSM and cognac is a great combination. Good luck with whatever you choose. I am sure you will love the car.

I was thinking of mocha to have some contrast in the interior, but haven't seen any real life examples. Otherwise it will be black with the blue stitching.

Agree 100%. I have the cognac on a G01 and had the same type of beige/black combination on an e46 and it was beautiful on both. In both instances the lower dash was black. Cognac looks great on leather but it does not looks nearly as good on the the plastic on the dash in my opinion. I wish they kept the dash black. To the OP, I kept the e46 which had a similar leather color for 8 years and never had an issue. The G01 is too new for me to say.

I sat in an X3 in daylight with cognac and while I love the color in pictures I wasn't so sure about it in that setting. Very orange to me.

I had an E92 with saddle brown leather interior and I loved that color. Cognac is close to it but just a bit lighter. The reason why I didn't go with cognac was the 2 tone dash. I can't get over the two tone and wish that BMW kept the dashboard black. I'd be all over the cognac leather if this was the case.

Luckily I'm the only one in my family that wears jeans.
So far no dye transfer..

In your experience, treating the leather regularly helps??

Awesome thanks for the suggestion. My F30 interior was starting to look pretty battered at the end of my 3.5 years with it so definitely going to care for the interior more intensively this time around.

I ordered Dravit Grey on the Cognac leather. I get SO many compliments on the vehicle and the two colours really pair well together. I love my Cognac leather.

Cleaning it often definitely helps.

Leather protectors are hit and miss. It's been over 10 years since I've had a light interior I was forced to chase and clean. Never again.

Ask Phil @ detailersdomain.com for advice.

Congrats!
The cognac club , salute !! Haha . Honestly I think Cognac and Oyster are two of the best looking interiors in my opinion. You should go check out the Coffee leather on the new X5 . It's drop dead gorgeous. Like a mix of cognac and mocha, not too bright like cognac, but not as dark as mocha. It's the perfect mix and I was blown away. Would definitely consider it for a future M car.

I made the assumption cognac would be equivalent to the coffee color... although I do like it, it's somewhat brighter than I expected.

Love the Mocha. I'm going with TB2 over Mocha on my M340i next year for sure. I'll be coming off my 2nd consecutive Mineral Gray over Coral Red 3 series since 2014. I wish BMW would offer the Cinnamon brown color that used to pair incredibly well with Carbon Black.
