Probably just the passenger side mirror - in the dealership they told me that when the mirror fails on the passenger side, it can cause all kinds of different issues, including not working power windows.

My passenger side has now failed once as well. I have now disabled the folding feature.

Also another weird thing that has happened is that I cannot set any of the driving modes from time to time.... Hope it's nothing weird in the can-system.

Hi guys, I have the same problems with my 320 d. All started 3 weeks ago with the passenger mirror, not responded to the folded command like the driver one, and worked intermittently until last week when died completely, then a week ago the driver window remained opened, and all others using driver command did not responded. I used the key vehicle to close the driver window. And the light in windows buttons from the driver door are working from time to time. I observed that in the passenger mirror the heating is not working, is dead also. Also for a few days everything is dead, both mirrors, and also the driver buttons windows panel. Right now my car is in a BMW service. Please let me know what was the solutions for your cars, it seams that is a general problem, and BMW is doing nothing. I ask you that because I would like to go directly to the point and communicate the solution to the service.Thank you !!!

Hey guys - my car arrived yesterday morning and the auto fold mirrors were working fine when unlocking / locking about 5 or 6 times and then last night when plugging car in to charge and locking they were no longer folding.

Car did an OTA update yesterday afternoon - could this be it?

My first BMW in a long time so I’m not overly familiar with iDrive system yet. Where do I find these settings to see if the update has turned it off?

In iDrive .. car, settings, doors/access. Auto folding is in there.

Whilst not 100% I do find this useful for getting used to iDrive. It was kindly posted by a member on another post.

And yes, OTA update had turned it off oddly - never mind, back on now!

Had this exact problem, the dealer changed my whole left mirror today. It was causing the doorpanel to fail a few times too.

Im afraid im going to have to this list. I have 4000 Km on the car. My car sleeps in the garage if that matters.

I drove this morning and everything worked fine, couple of minutes later I get in the car again (its like 4 am, dark AF) turn it on start driving and a few meters down the road I tried to use my left mirror and it was still folded in.

I stopped on the side of the road, tried to trigger it using the inside button. Nothing. I restarted the car and nothing still. I just pushed it out and kept driving. Got to my destination and after about 20 mins or so i unlocked the car and it worked again, but it pushed the mirror the wrong way.

Its good now but I have disabled the fold function for now.

It will fail completely soon, it's inevitable now. Be mentally prepared
It's a quick fix at the dealer though, provided the spare parts are available.

Both my side mirrors have failed. The driver side one almost immediately after delivery. Got that changed under warranty.
And now, after 8000km, the passenger side mirror failed in the same way. It's stuck in folded position......

Real crap mirrors! Also the missing dimming on the passenger side is just stupid.....

The good news is that replacement parts have different numbers than the original ones. According to my dealer that is because there were some changes/improvements to the original design. But no planned recall, just case by case approach.
At first the procedure was to replace the whole mirror unit (I've had the driver side one replaced) now I was told that BMW introduced a "repair kit" with the critical parts only. Cheaper, I guess...

I got mine replaced. Had to wait almost 2 weeks! Unfortunately also have to get PPF for my mirror since they replaced the whole mirror. Hopefully it lasts!

My car is November build, I would have thought they had the new parts in already. BLEH.

My passenger side mirror on my M340i has been acting up. Two weeks ago it didn't open at all and I had to push it in place. Last week it didn't fully open to it's normal position and it was kind flopping/wiggling and I couldn't get it to seat. It eventually moved itself back into place after I started driving.

Folding Mirrors Glitch

Despite the fact that automatic folding mirrors are disabled on my M340, the mirrors still automatically fold, and then unfold on their own, when I walk around the car while spraying it at the car wash.

Any ideas on how to prevent this from occurring?

Are they folding at the start and unfolding as you exit?

No, as weird as it sounds, they only fold in, then out, as I walk around the car spraying it off at the car wash.

With Comfort Access, you can´t have the key in your pocket. The car reacts to the spraying liquid as if you touch the handles.....

That would be considered normal if the option to fold automatically was checked on your iDrive. The fact that it isn’t is what is weird. Did you try checking and unchecking the option again?

Not sure if you're being serious, but I wouldn't be surprised if spraying water on the handles is the culprit. I'll also try redoing the iDrive mirror settings.
