Completely Torn between PB and SO
Hi all. I know color is a subjective thing but I've never been so torn between colors.
I'm getting ready to place a 330i M-Sport custom build and really like the Portimao Blue as well as the Sunset Orange. Planning to get the 791 bi color wheels and full black kidney grill. I have the build options all set but can't decide on color. I keep going back and fourth. Is one color easier to maintain than the other? I live in SoCal and have seen both. Both setups look great. Any advice? |

I think the sunset orange will look really nice with the full blacked out kidney grill. The contrast would be nice. I am torn about the celerium grey on the portimao blue. I wanted to get rid of it asap, but now it has grown on me. I'm starting not to like how the black kinda melds in with the dark blue.
In regards to maintaining the color, I think they are equally hard to maintain here in socal. I end up washing my car with the portimao blue, every weekend even after its been covered/garaged. I am assuming the orange wont pop as much with a layer of dust. I could be wrong, I wanted the sunset orange, but fell in love with the portimao blue. The color that hides dust and easiest to maintain to me is the grey. |

I as well had the same issue. I built the Sunset Orange but was able to find a Portimao Blue that was on a Boat. Did not have to wait very long. However although I really like the Port Blue I really wish I would have went Sunset Orange and would switch tomorrow if I could. But man do I get a lot of compliments on the blue when its shined up.
I also have switched the Spoiler, mirrors and front chin to Carbon Fiber. I just do not see the pop that I would have on the Sunset with Black wheels. Dealer also told me the Blue is a better car for trading in as the Sunset Orange would be a more unique color. Bottom line I still think I goofed. |

I went Sunset Orange because I've been seeing everyone go Blue and I like to be different. I've also been driving Estoril Blue for the last 7 years.
With the black spoiler, wheels, and grill, SO looks awesome. I also have yet to see another.

I have sunset orange. It’s flashy, being a lot of attention and is just overall a beautiful color and stands out. You are going to see so many PB g20s and rarely a SO. I have yet to see one other than mine on the road. You won’t regret it. Check out my instagram for more pics! @ orange_m340i

I was on the fence about PB. Is it too loud, boy racer-ish? I went with it anyway and am glad I did. It has nice depth and I get tons of compliments on the color. PB looks great with Cerium gray accents (I also got the 792m wheels with Cerium gray insets). All black would cheapen it IMHO. On the other hand I think black with Sunset Orange looks great.

I went with PB, absolutely no regrets. Looks wonderful with the 2-tone 19”s. Does have to be kept clean but that’s true for most colours.
One thing I initially regretted was going for the chrome grille instead of the black; rest of my car is black and to me it looked a bit out of place. But since then I’ve seen a couple with black grilles and have the feeling the chrome will be rarer; plus I’m getting used to it now and might actually prefer it. |

SO screams "needs mor mods" to me. I have a feeling that SO with a combination of black and carbon fiber accents would be stunning, the orange, the black, and the grey weave of CF making a great combo!
That said SO just feels too loud for my old man tastes, I feel Portimao is a better straddler between the sport look and the luxury look stock. That said OP, look for the Sunset Orange color thread, there are some VERY nice luxury combos there to see! |

A little, yes but once you've got over the initial phatboi impression you start to fall in love with it. I did.

Now it's just a matter of picking the right color for me. I've had gray, silver, silver, white, silver so taking a plunge to a brighter color is hard for me. I was also considering the mineral gray. But like with many grays, they only look good when squeaky clean. I actually saw one on the office parking lot and thought it looked kind of drab. Maybe it's a sign. |

Get the color you love, I regret the white, shows dirt too easy. The color I wanted was PB but my car came from out of state and I had to pick what was in stock since I got a good deal. Next time it's PB or SO for me. SO looks great with black wheels and black trims ala kidney grill, mirrors, front splitters etc. PB looks great with the stock trim and silver wheels. Well to my eyes at least.

The color cars I have had were mainly safe neutral colors, Black, White, Silver and Grey. For me the least amount of washing was my mineral grey 328i, but the most annoying to keep clean being my black g35 6mt. |
