Back to regular programming, I'm having a difficult time with those monster grills. My 9yo son loves it. Maybe I'm too old school!
There is nothing wrong with you. The grille looks like crap. We are living in a time when sedans and of course coupes are losing sales to SUVs and Crossovers. This grille is not helping matters. I think the M2 CS will be the last good looking BMW in a while.

10 years ago, Acura's sales plummeted due to the TL's grille as this may happen to the M3 and M4 next year.

I dunno man, I think the opposite is going to happen. Once it is officially unveiled, that thread is gonna have like a billion pages here. And it's gonna hit all the major car sites like Jalopnik, Autoblog, whatever the big sites are now.

Maybe they are pulling our legs with the grill design. Keeping this shit wrapped Up tight till release. I don't have high hopes for this theory but I really hope so.... will have to pick up the f80 if it really is gonna look anything similar today....

They wouldn't. People that were waiting to see it are now probably looking elsewhere

Anyway, it looks like a bigger CLA from Mercedes Benz
I thought it looked like an Alfa Romeo for some reason.

I just don't get it. Do a google image search for 19xx BMW. Change the decade from 1970 to 2020, hitting each decade. Grille barely changed from 70's - 90's. The cars did, grill didnt and didn't need to. 2000-2010, slight evolution to more modern look. Now it is changing drastically several times last couple years. Seems like every new model gets a new grille, and not always that subtle of a change, instead of a slight change to an iconic symbol that then goes out to all variants with just little variation.

I don't hate some of the newer ones. Just don't get why it is changing so often. And I do hate some of them (none more than this render, 7 series also comes to mind).

Losing their heritage, fast. Not a good thing.

I know.. I've gone back that far too and my first thought was exactly of that big grill you posted. But it just doesn't feel the same. For starters, the old one actually suits the look of the car and you know, looks good.

If anything our current generation grills deviate from heritage. It's just doing a full circle back to the beginning.

It was a gradual evolution. Again I had the same thought about going back to the beginning when they were that tall. But you can't just make them bigger and not care how well it blends with the rest of modern language and call it some sort of return.

I'd call it a reboot.

We already have seen the real thing in spy shots. Why is everyone making a big deal out of renderings?! Is scott and bmw in denial of the spy shots for the next gen 3?
