Lightbulb ESR RF2 vs Curva CFF70

Hello g20 fam!

Fellow M340i owner here.
I felt like the cosmetics on my ride were pretty much done in every aspect until I found a mass thread of beautiful wheels and started to get desperate to purchase a set of aftermarket wheels.

At the moment, I'm thinking of going with a budget-friendly set of wheels first then move on to the high-end options like HRE or Apex. So upon searching 5-spoke wheels, I was able to lower the candidates into two - that are being ESR RF2 and Curva Concepts CFF70s, both in 19-inch size. Both of them do look gorgeous; I am still on the fence about which one I should go with though. RF2s are at $1.4k, and CFF70s are at $1.6k fyi.

And while I know that Curva Concepts is a relatively new business in the industry with quite a number of great reviews, I want to hear yall thoughts about ESR wheels in general. I've heard mixed reviews about them but those reviews were ages ago and I want to see how they are holding up these recent days. Given that I'm paying like 1.4 grand for a set I'm not expecting the greatest quality, but I would like to at least know what's up with them before I make any purchases.

Which one do you think looks better in a G20 M340i? Would appreciate any of your opinions!

i was in the shop looking for these two. I am personally going with curva concept because they are flow-forged and will last longer than the esr. Also i contacted esr when trying to purchase them and they said they were not sure if the calipers on the m340 would hit the wheels so i chose to play it safe and go with curva since they advertise for m340s

Had the Curva for a while and can’t complain. Get nothing but compliments on them especially when I wash the brake dusts off them. This is with dinan springs and dinan 10mm spacers in front.

I'm leaning towards Curvas as well - I feel like CFF70s are made just for the M340i

btw ESR also has a technique named Forgetech that looks pretty like a flow-formed procedure FYI!

Those RF2's look really good. Might pick those up myself to run Nitto's or Cup 2's

Its crazy actually. They weren't my first choice (apex SM-10's were) but do to budget I decided to give them my business.

I reached out about the wheel setup's in their press releases.... it was torture to get a straight answer. They kept referring to me their retailers and they couldn't give me a straight answer either.

Safe to say they lost my business.

Appreciate it, 19x9 in the front with 245 35 / 19x10 in the rear with 265 30
Planning on going up to 255 35s in the front and 285 30s in the rear in the coming months… it’ll look more meaty then.

Thanks for sharing dude. Curva's website says the staggered setup goes 19x9 ET28 on the front and 19x10 ET35 on the rear; did you follow that offset?

Did you have to get spacers to run this setup? I just ordered the cff70s in black, stock m sport suspension, and I don't want to run spacers.

Torn between 245/40/19 front / 275/35/19 rear versus 255/35/19 front and 285/30/19.

Go with the 255/35/19 front and 285/30/19 rear, but no you can run it without spacers in the front it just won’t be as flush. The rear doesn’t need spacers thankfully.
Plus with the spacers make sure you add the hub centric ring on the spacers (if you go with it). You’ll eliminate the rabbit hole of troubleshooting why it shakes lol
