I like it, looks excellent, especially for an EV model

...now let's hope they keep the panoramic roof and don't add a hood line to the production model

Successful design, and I think kidney there look fine...? Id rate it 8/10 overall on looks and 10/10 for hope of shutting up the tesla fan boys who are unfking bearable by now.

380mile range is a joke. Hope everyone who buys one will be able to finance the next car in 5 years to come out with 800mile range. Although Im starting to fear the same with range on cars will be like with mobile phones, they will just push it to a level where it is just about enough, but not great. Not great to threaten their bread and butter ICE business.

Yeah, for i/range anyway. The lack of black means transparency and it will take a color of the car you buy. Not bad. Can see all the SoCal people start upgrading their badges soon. And i car drivers buy after market black roundels also.

Great TopGear overview:

As i suspect in a previously post the grill servers a purpose on this car with all sensors and probably radar and such behind. So you don't have those flat black surfaces in the front that we have seen on previous cars.

If this hood is how the M440i is going to look, I'm ok with that...

Still can't get over the new kidney design. Tbh, it looks horrible.

Trying to force myself to like it, but I just can't...

Think it looks great, personally.

Its different to a rather "beige" looking group of saloon vehicles.

Would also prefer this over Tesla M3. But it's the charging network that makes the difference. Does BMW have a comparable charging network that can charge at 120+ kW? For < 0.3 USD per kWh?

I have three worries about this car.

1. Hood line. The 4er and Z4 concept lacked a hood line, but gained it in their production versions. I hope this is not the case again.

2. No buttons. I hope it gains buttons for production. Not a fan of the Mercedes-style huge double screen either. But then again I prefer analog gauges.

3. Flat seats, no leather. Don't look sporty enough, I want proper side bolsters. And leather.

Apart from those, I really like the overall shape. This might become my first electric car if it turns out well.

1. Just imagine how pretty it would look with normal sized kidneys.

2. Is this production ready? Because we saw this as a prototype already. If it's another prototype then who cares?

3. ENOUGH with the goddamn inverted rev meter. Look at how porsche, Audi and Mercedes kept a proper look for their digital cluster. You are BMW, "the ultimate driving machine", not a Playstation!

4. The minimalist look is fine when you first buy the car and get impressed by its interior. But after a while you want your buttons back. So now i have to go through multiple screens and options to change the temperature by one degree?

5. I like the steering wheel. I cant wait for them to throw it away and give us the same black boring one we have now.

6. I like the new badge.

7. The number plate base they are using is transparent, but normal number plates arent. They are going to ruin the front, which already looks bad to begin with. Why couldnt they put the number plate on the side, like how Alfa Romeo has been doing?

Wow, that is one sexy beast!
We'll get used to the grille, no doubt.
Design and quality is a knockout on the TM3. I hope they don't do many changes to the interior, except for 3 seats in the back obviously. It looks incredible!

It has camera mirrors, but no screens inside? Anyway, I would never add that option.

I like it. Not too crazy about design lines as I prefer straight lines and boxy/angular shapes but I will take this one.
Two concerns are the production model variation from concept and price.
Tuscan sounded great until they released the price and mileage of the EV. So let's see how this one turns out. Until then, if I go for electric, it will be Tesla.

It's DOA. 270 mile range doesn't cut these days especially in winters and cold areas. Reminds be of 6 yr old Model S 85D. Below 40 degrees temp effective range drastically goes down. Below 25 degrees the range will drop by more than 40%. I experienced these in Model S and Model 3. Besides there're no supercharger networks like Tesla. I wish the battery pack was 100 KWH. Why 80???

So the GT line of models was such a success that every new model must try and morph into the GT design philosophy of ugly first.

Maybe I'm a super small consumer group now, but I like good looking, well equipped, great handling, well powered cars. There's very little in the range I'd look at currently. I must be the wrong consumer persona.

Why does an electric car need a bonnet/hood to house a V8. The design language in this thing is a mess.

Given the testing photo spy shoots, this thing will be all the more ugly in real life.

The production car will have a hood line.... and THAT CHANGES IT ALL!

Even more than big/small kidneys.... the hood line effect is far greater

Now that the leaked photos happened, the hood line puts me off more than the grill does. And this will happen again with this car.

Absolutely horrible. The grill is really bad, but that "minimalist" (read "vegan") interior is even worse.

If I ever sell my M4, I'll surely say goodbye to BMW (after 20 years) and get a Porsche.

BMW's new design language is making me want to jump ship as well. I love BMW heritage but way too much form over function.

Not bad, but those XXL grills will be ruined by front license plates, especially for US.

Really interesting design from BMW here. Sure there are things which are meant to shock - and that probably is needed to provide a bit more of a design statement, but if the real 4 and related i4 GC have some tweaks to the grille to make it a bit less harsh / sharp edged then they really could be onto a winner. Interior is brilliant in my opinion.... elegant, simplistic, wonderful materials...
