In the middle of nowhere hood shut line is still there

Stupid butterfly kidneys are still there, instead of having normal horizontal kidneys visually in-line of the headlights instead of invading the lower bumper. When a design element is split in half because of the license plate, you have to know it’s a bad design element.

Hofmeister kink is still not there.

And LCI that fixes NOTHING.

Not bad but not compelling. At a glance I can only make out the headlights as changed. Maybe the wheels too?

I think BMW headlights will only get interesting again in the H generation where they hopefully bring anti-dazzle natively to the US.

Have people figured out anti-dazzle coding on any of the cars that have already shipped with this class of headlight? X5?

Wiling to give the benefit of the doubt that moving away from laser hasn’t been a downgrade in terms of brightness and max throw. Even though I think the move away from laser was probably pushed a lot by supply chain issues - given how they broke it out of the exec package in MY’22 (M3/M4) and didn’t make it clear to early buyers who were angry (I managed to not be affected by directly reading the order guide).

LCI models never have changes to the stamped steel portions nowadays. Designers must play within the bumpers and head/tail lights only. Looks like designers were especially lazy on the 4, and didn’t even touch the front bumper. Ha.

Anyways, I like it. The 4ers look unique on the road and the driving position has a “cockpit” vibe.

This LCI loses the inner projector light so I wonder how that will actually look in person. I imagine that blank space might be a bit strange.

The moment you realize your 5 month old pre-LCI isn't going to be obsolete until 2028.

The lasers were better. I don’t feel as though the lights on my LCI X5 are as bright or as far as a throw as my M3 lasers were. It’s not like they are terrible but definitely not as good.

The shape of the lights I can live with. I think they flow better with the lines of the front. But it’s the lack of details in these compared to the details in the laser angel eyes that bothers me.

I made this edit to see how the pre lci might look if you nodded them/cut

Ah bummer. That actually means they are quite worse because the lasers in my X5 throw better in all conditions from being higher up off the ground than my M4.

3/4/M3/M4 LCI buyers coming from pre-LCI are not going to be happy.

There is still some cool details in the X5 version but agree that it isn’t nearly as good as the lasers. Too hard to tell from the photo of the 4 if that detail has been lost compared to the X5 version.

I like it, I think they’re growing into the massive front grille at this point - which I figured would take some time. Seems like they’re learning to blend it in more and taking a cue from Audi with the large inlets on the sides of the bumper
