Recommendations for mods on M340i ?

So, I’m taking delivery of an ‘in-stock’ Portimao Blue M340i from Park Lane at the end of September. It has no other options apart from just the sun protection glass and Tech pack. It doesn’t have the shadow line on it. I am keeping the cerium grey grill.

So far, I have decided to add the following at my local dealership:

M Performance Front Splitter, black high-gloss
M Performance Rear diffuser, carbon fibre
M Performance Rear spoiler, carbon fibre
M Performance Side Sill Attachments, black high-gloss
M Performance decals

At this stage, I’m not too sure about the decals as they may look a bit tacky. I’m also considering the 795M Ferric wheels. I thought about the carbon extensions for the lip but I think it may make the car look a bit too old school?

I’ve also been told that the side sills can come in carbon if i choose to. But I think the gloss black sills would match the shadow line trim on the Windows right? Or would carbon sills look ok? Also since I am keeping the cerium grey grill, should I keep the cerium grey mirrors or replace them with carbon? I like the cerium grey grill against the Portimao Blue, it’s a nice contrast and a little different to all the blacked out ones that most go for.

What other mods would you guys recommend? Is an M-Performance exhaust available in the UK? I thought about the interior but nothing takes my fancy.

Hi & congrats on your incoming car.

Decal wise I actually think they do suit the car even though I haven't got any standard decals myself & as I'm thinking of doing something a little bit different.

The wheels are a good choice as imo BMW are nailing wheel designs as a whole, although none come particularly cheap.

The splitter does look great in carbon but just as good in gloss if you ask me & you can ways add the carbon extensions to the gloss splitter if you really must have an extra carbon look.
I didn't know the sill extensions came in carbon other than from third party makers & my opinion on them is the same as for the splitter. Going carbon will not go against the rest of the shadow look but mearly add an extra contrast so I wouldn't worry about that.
Mirror wise carbon mirrors are a great upgrade BUT as you are keeping the cerium grille it won't work for me you need something to tie that grille in & the mirrors do that. If you decide to go carbon then you really must go gloss for the grille.

The performance exhaust was & I think still is available although it hasn't been available from the BMW website, which is supplied by Park Lane for sometime, this was the 330/320i version I might add.

Other mods externally I personally have added a carbon shark fin which I think looks great & ties my carbon diffuser, exhaust tips, mirrors & soon to be added spoiler in perfectly.

Brilliant and thank you for the response. I think you are right in regards to the mirrors, I think I’ll leave them in cerium grey to match up with the grill.

In regards to the decals, does anyone have any photos of them? The dealer has offered me them but not sent any pics.

May I ask where you got your carbon fin? Is it available from dealers? Have you got any pics?

Also, when you stated that you are looking to do something different, may I ask what your plans are?

For the decals just Google BMW G20 decals.
When you say fin I take it you mean spoiler yes? Yes they are available from dealers I can't recall the part number of the top of my head & for good shots of it have look in the Show us your G20 thread as can't add shots via mobile.

I have a few ideas nothing amazing but keeping those under my hat for now 😉.

Cool! I'll take a look and thanks for the response. I've also considered the M-Perforamnce steering wheel but I think the alcantara will get dirty.

Your welcome

I like the look of the Alcantara wheel too but I think I'd get a specialist to retrim as it's not only cheaper i'd also be able to get the stitching done in the M colours as the OEM is silver grey for probably less than cost of the upgraded version.

May I ask what performance exhaust you mention?

The M perf exhaust isn't and as far as I've been told will never be available for the G20 in the UK.

Yes to the diffuser, spoiler and front splitter. Seen a few cars with these on - transforms the front especially.

For me the the side decals are dreadful - bit too try hard (even worse on anything other than an M340i) and don't look good at all and the M performance decals are a bit Halfords for me.

As far as I can recall it was very early on,on the bmw website priced around 1500 the carbon tips were sold as separate element for the exhaust.

Ok. I think that's for the previous generation. It hasn't ever been listed for the G20 in the UK. Won't fit any of the exhausts from the 320i to M340i because of the PPF. It's a real shame.

Your probably right as I have looked at it through countless websites so I have more than likely seen it elsewhere & definitely a shame it's not been released here.
