What ended up happening with your diffuser install?
I tried yesterday and stopped when I also saw the wiring for the kickboot. I would be the surprised if it was attached to the stock diffuser

From installing mine, the wiring is connected to the bumper, but not the diffuser. The diffuser attaches over the bumper. None of the wiring is connected to the diffuser (although it looks like it when you are under the car). It really is a very simple install.

+1 - this is spot on and i'm glad someone shared this.

When i first took a look under my rear bumper i thought exactly the same thing about the wiring - but as you shared it's attached to the bumper and not the diffuser despite what it may look like at first

1) So when "high gloss black" rear diffuser is installed, the sensor for foot is still operational?

2) Has anyone experience installing this with factory tow hook?

I: I would assume so, 8.5/10 success rate with my CF one.

2: This has been asked before regarding a G21 & I don't recall a definite answer. I hazard a guess at no without some sort of modification

Anyone have any issues with the comfort kick after replacing the OEM diffuser? I saw a few people mentioned it before.

No issues here, works as normal after diffuser swap. You're not messing with any wiring or sensors, just swapping out the bumper trim piece with the new diffuser is all.

I am looking to remove my bumper trip + diffuser (which is attached) to paint gloss black.

I'm a little confused about people here mentioning wires. When I did a replacement on my previous F30 it was as simple as a few screws and popping it out. Wouldn't the wires be connected to the whole bumper and not the small bumper trim/diffuser piece?

Good thread! I see you did something unique with yours before changing it to all gloss black. I did something similar on my F30.

We seem to have similar taste as I am having the shop paint the exhaust tips gloss black along with the diffuser. Your experiment has me thinking if I can mess around with some coloring on the stock diffuser now

I like your choices. Where did you buy you parts from?

Looking to do the same on my Blue 340.

Did you use Betalink or 3M tape? If you used 3M, where did you place the tape? All around the edges or only in certain places? I am really struggling to get it to fit properly using 3M!!

Lightbulb How to Install Diffuser, Quad Tips, and Wire up 3rd brake light G20 BMW

Personally, I spent a bit of time and energy in doing the install myself.

I wouldn't nearly consider it worth $300 to do the install, as it is fairly simple when it comes down to the tools, technique, and effort required to do the install.

I would give it a 3/10 on the difficulty scale, I didn't even need to jack my car up.

I have a detailed video explaining how to do it. You can find it here
