Yup. It seemed confusing when I read the posts. But after that last post and when I checked it further, I realised it was easy peasy. Now I wonder what color I can replace the green with and use that as a combination instead of white.

Edit - What she looks like now. I'm contemplating switching the red and blue (red strips and blue handle and door storage lights). Or maybe just replace the green and white with the red and blue alternative. Sorry for the non-central steering wheel. Should've thought of that before I took the pic.

Awesome this is exactly what I want to do - going to try it today based on the above.

Am I right in saying that your white colour is now red everywhere? So if you select blue/white in I drive you’d get all blue?

Cheers

Nope. You don’t need to change the hex code for white (90, E0, 90). Let that be as is in 360A. Instead, change the value for bronze (D7, 6E, 14) which are bytes 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30 to red (FF, 00, 00). Then go to 360D and change byte 3 to 03 (it is originally 00 for white; 03 makes it blue and 01 changes from bronze to red since we changed it in 360A).
With that coding, you get blue where it was originally white (ONLY when you choose bronze and white; it remains white in the other options such as orange and white, green and white, blue and white etc) and red where it was originally bronze. When you choose only bronze, all the lights turn red. Basically, the photo I posted of my car in my previous post.
Hope that helps.

Amazing! Could you provide to us step by step what you do via bimmercode expert. I think it will be much easier for us and other colleagues on our forum to understand and add this position to coding directory. As I noticed , did you add custom value, because on iOS I couldn’t edit profiles like g05g20 etc via bimmercode

Bimmercode > BDC module > Expert code > 360A Lcilci.......
When you open 360A, you’ll see two sub modules. Choose the second one and scroll down to the one that is already selected (I forgot the name but it’s already selected). There, choose custom value at the bottom and it’ll take you to the screenshot I posted showing 150 different bytes. Refer to my previous post for the changes I made.
Similarly, go to 360D lcilci......., choose the second option there, scroll down to the preselected option and choose custom value there too.
It’s 3am here and I’m not near my car or my phone. I forgot the exact names but I can check later in the morning if you need me to.

That looks amazing mate! I might do the same.

It's a shame you can't ADD more colours though so you could for example keep the bronze and have blue/red. Has anyone actually tried just adding more values into the werte list instead of just replacing them?

Nice one thanks, will do this later today and will then have to wait for it to get dark to actually see it - it's summertime in the UK so won't get dark until late

I'm planning on replacing the blue in 360A with a lighter blue so fingers crossed this works too!

I don't think those lights are stock - pretty sure I don't have them and I have the HK too - aftermarket?

Thanks jaimeen77 and VipinLJ - just finished coding my colour combo.

I replaced Bronze/White with a new blue and red - these are the shades from the M logo

Will try and take a pic later tonight!

Would be cool if we could add new colours, I daren't try and add new values in case I end up bricking my ECU in some way.

I figure though even if you can add the values in there, I'm sure they'll be other areas/values to change elsewhere in order to get them to show up in the iDrive menu. Also the screens/images in the iDrive of each colour profile are likely hardcoded and would have to be manually updated so doubt it's possible although would be very cool if it was possible!

Pity btw didn't add a 'create your own' option where you can specify 1 or 2 colours, I don't think it would have been that difficult.

and then white goes to red

360A start with 00, 01, 90,E0,90,FF,02,90,E0,90,FF,03,90,E0,90,FF
Yes you can. We can set custom values there. I've taken screenshots of the stock bytes. I'll post them here from my phone. Way too many screenshots though and I'm sure it'll piss a few people off

And when you say change 90, E0, 90 to FF, 00, 00, you mean I have to change all three? So only the white option goes to red? Or is it the bronze and white, orange and white, green and white etc that turns to red?

When I look, it shows bytes 3,4,5, 8,9,10, 13,14,15 as 90,E0,90. I thought that would be easier than attaching 15 screenshots here

In my car, 360A starts with 00,1A,01,90,E0,90,FF,02,90,E0,90,00,03,90,E0,90,FF .....

Make a video for everyone. It will be worth it. Screen record it.

hottroc - I believe I'm wrong regarding the HK system having lights behind the speaker grills. In some countries, I believe the 3 series has an optional B&W system which is better than the HK system? He probably has that? Or it could be aftermarket covers like in the link below.

https://www.incarpassion.com/bmw-3-s...ambient-light/

Regarding adding more colors. Even if it might be possible in 360A since there are lots of unused bytes, when we go into 360D which is what shows up on the idrive, there are only 22 bytes, all of which are used. We can't add extra bytes there. Again, I could be wrong since I'm no expert whatsoever.

sharepointalex - I thought of replacing the blue with a lighter blue too. But my wife likes the dark blue and I left as is. I also replaces the green and white option with a blue and red option (pic below). Basically I inverted the options I had for bronze and white.

sztmek - You don't need to retype all the values. When you click custom values, it shows all the original values there. You just replace the values of the color you don't want with the new values and save it. It automatically gets saved as a whole new setting under 360A and 360D. The original values stays there under g20g28......

Swagasaurus-R3X - I have no idea why I didn't think of screen recording it. I should have done it before making changes. Reason being, once you make a change, the original selection under 360A and 360D changes to a new one called unassigned values with the new values I've added. But I'll try and do it again and screen record it.

I'll do a write up since it'll be a bit before I can make a video.

1. Changing the actual color for the ambient lighting (White, bronze, orange, blue, green, lilac)

BDC module > Expert coding > 360A LicLciColorLibrary > LIC_LCI_COLOR_LIBRARY_DATA > G20G21G26G28G80_Lichtpaket_code1 (selected option) > Custom value

Byte 0 to byte 151 present, screenshots of which can be found here.

Original RGB hex codes are:
90,E0,90 - WHITE
D7,6E,14 - BRONZE
93,1A,01 - ORANGE
00,20FE - BLUE
10,FE,32 - GREEN
78,3C,FE - LILAC

Any of these colors can be changed. As a result, that color will be removed completely and replaced with the new color you code.
The only change I made there was to the default bronze (D7, 6E, 14) at bytes 18,19,20, 23,24,25, 28,29,30 to red (FF, 00, 00). When you click save and then code it, all 151 bytes get saved as a new unassigned value which is the new selected option. I have no bronze color in my ambient light anymore. All the other colors are present along with the newly coded red color.

2. Ambient light option in iDrive

BDC module > Expert coding > 360D LicLciColorProfiles > LIC_LCI_COLOR_PROFILES_DATA > G20G21G26G28G80_Lichtpaket_code1 (selected option) > Custom value

Byte 0 to byte 21 present, screenshots of which can be found here.

Original values are:
00 - white
01 - bronze
02 - orange
03 - blue
04 - green
05 - lilac

In my car, bronze has been replaced with red. So 01 becomes red instead.
Also, I've replaced bronze and white with red and blue (byte 2 left as is and byte 3 changed to 03 from 00) AND green and white with blue and red (byte 16 changed to 03 from 04 and byte 17 changed to 01 from 00). When you click save and then code it, all 21 bytes get saved as a new unassigned value which is the new selected option.

A screen recording of the locations of the two options can be found in the link below. It's not extensive. Just so you can get an idea.

In the options in the video above:

A. Under LIC_LCI_COLOR_LIBRARY_DATA (360A):

1. Original hex values:

Byte 18 - D7
Byte 19 - 6E
Byte 20 - 14

Byte 23 - D7
Byte 24 - 6E
Byte 25 - 14

Byte 28 - D7
Byte 29 - 6E
Byte 30 - 14

2. New hex values:

Byte 18 - FF
Byte 19 - 00
Byte 20 - 00

Byte 23 - FF
Byte 24 - 00
Byte 25 - 00

Byte 28 - FF
Byte 29 - 00
Byte 30 - 00

B. Under LIC_LCI_COLOR_PROFILES_DATA (360D):

1. Original hex values:

Byte 2 - 01
Byte 3 - 00

Byte 16 - 04
Byte 17 - 00

New hex values:

Byte 2 - 01
Byte 3 - 03

Byte 16 - 03
Byte 17 - 01

Hi mates!

I also coded successfully red and blue color. It’s possible to increase the brightness of ambient lights of doors and bottoms led? I scroll to full in indrive but I think it is medium level of brightness compare to main cockpit main line. I looked for something in expert mode and I found rgb brightness control. There are few byte 14-15 with FF and the byte 1,2,3,4 have some other values maybe I have to type also FF to increase light ? What do you think?

I coded the red/blue and it looks awesome. Does anyone know what values to change to replace white with a warmer white?

Anyone know if it's possible to make the lights for the AC and radio controls white instead of orange?

Warmer as in brighter? Or less white/slightly beige or yellowish? You can play around with the colors in the first website link in one of my previous posts and find the hex value of the kind of white you like. And then replace all 3 sets of codes for 90,E0,90 with the one you like?

That might be possible but not sure. I only know that it works depending on if the headlights are on or off. 😬 But it might be possible to code it to stay white or orange all the time?
