Lightbulb Sound Diff Between Cheaper Intake vs More Exp Intake? (CTS vs MST intake)

I would first like to apologize as this sounds like a very stupid question. I’m fairly new to cars! So sorry! And I appreciate any and all responses!

Recently installed a CTS turbo intake on my m340i by the recommendation of my car friend. Since I’m new I went with his suggestion. He said it’s just an intake and there’s barely, if any noticeable sound difference between the CTS intake vs the MST or Dinan and says the price difference is mainly aesthetics.

Now that it’s installed, I think it sounds great but a part of me wishes I bought the Dinan or MST for more/louder intake sound. (Do not care for more HP. Just want the best and loudest sound!)

Is there any truth to what my friend said? I find it hard to believe a $500 or $600 intake is the same sound as the cheaper CTS intake. (Strictly talking about sound differences)

Thanks everyone. 🙏

Hmm it should be relatively similar in terms of performance and sound. I purchased the CTS Turbo intake a couple of days ago. I have a friend with a Dinan air Intake. I’ll update when I compare the two.

Does anyone care about the filtration capabilities of these intakes and any risk of dust damaging the piston rings/turbo? I'm fairly certain these cone intakes don't filter nearly as well as the stock filter.

I got an MST Intake but I'm reluctant to putting it on because I'm afraid in the long run the engine will get damaged from the poor filtration.

It might be fun now but what about 3 years down the line?

It sounds awesome btw , I'm not trying to hate, just generaly curious and cautious.

The best sounding one I've heard so far is the Armaspeed intake.

I don't think the price of the intake is a factor in how loud it is. It depends on the filter used and their inlet size.

Some companies offer loud intakes, others do not. It's a matter of customer preference. (injen intakes are louder than the higher-priced competition intakes).

Might be too late for you now, but before buying an intake, I recommend listening to sound clips and picking the one you like the most.
