M340i: eBay exterior parts installed: front lip, side skirts and wing

Wanted to share with fellow members: just installed recently purchased lip, wing and skirts, all from eBay, and all shipped from the US (~1.5 weeks ship time).

Excellent fitment for non-OEM parts. Lip and skirts came gloss black, wing was CF print; I did not get anything painted. Didn't install myself, but was told that strong 3M tape was needed for all pieces, and a few self tappers w/washers for front lip and skirts. Had to purchase this installation hardware separately, I think only the wing came with some [weak sauce] generic double-tape.

Very happy with the result. Definitely a more aggressive yet subtle look all around. I looked into the diffusers that were available, didn't really like any of the options that were out there at the moment.

Front lip and side skirts: eBay seller name "advancetuning"

Wing: eBay seller name "chl2017"

Sorry for the crappy pics.

Cheers, thanks guys. Now I just have to re-learn how to drive a car with an extended front lip installed; it can scrape real bad if I'm not careful. Would love to have a urethane reproduction available.

Hope to run into some of you local fellas one of these days

Where did you get these parts installed?
Also can you link the hardware needed?

A friend of mine installed these as a favor, but he does have a shop in Escondido if you wanted a quote: Joor Muffler, 302 E Valley Pkwy. Not really sure what hardware he used, but he did mention he had to supply everything since the parts came with only a weak double-sides tape.

For the side skirt, it shows that there are screws and double-sided tape. Do you need to do both? Or can you use only the double-sided tape.

I personally would never use just tape alone on a large exterior piece of body trim such as sideskirts. Definitely use screws.

Looks good, will this fit on a 330i with M sport front bumper? How is the finish on that gloss black paint it came with?

Thanks. Can't speak to fitment on the 330i, but I can tell you that the gloss black finish deteriorated a bit over the past 2 years as I rack up scrapes on the lip from parking lots and whatnot; the paint has begun to visibly flake in chunks closer to the impact points. It's not horrible (the base is your typical dull black ABS plastic, so it blends in), but it's bound to happen any time the material flexes for any reason. If I were to do it all over again, I would add a few layers of a protective clear coat of some sort from a professional shop sort to squeeze some additional mileage from the lip.

Looks stunning! how long does it take for installing that spoiler? And do you need any special tool?

I had a shop perform the install for everything, so I'm not really sure, but I do remember them saying the spoiler was the easiest. I think the thin factory spoiler was removed using a plastic wedge tool (similar to a slim painter's edge tool), then the glue residue needed to be cleaned up before the new one was installed using the double-sided tape it came with; no screws or other hardware.

kimixhc ,

While I didn't ise the same spoiler as in this thread, I did replace the thin OEM color-matched spoiler that came mounted on my M340.

To remove the OEM spoiler, I followed a hack posted elsewhere & used fishing line. Slipped into under edge at one end and worked down to other, alternating slight pressure between my hands. Came off very easily. To get glue residue off, I used a paper shop towel with rubbing alcohol — now that took some effort, but eventually got it off

New spoiler has been on for over a year

Hope that helps!

OP's car looks great. Am considering the same front splitter & side skirts as not much comes in gloss black. I'd recommend for anyone installing these to first cover them with Xpel or another paint protection film. That'll keep them looking nice for quite some time.

Dumb Question: Seeing as you have (obviously) had these side skirt extensions installed on an M340i - they must fit, right? haha

Reason I ask is because, when I go to the ebay listing it says not compatible. Everywhere I find these online (at numerous automotive sites) all say the same thing. Not compatible with 2020 M340i. I don't understand why.

They don't block the floor lights do they? I am scratching my head why all these sites have them listed as not compatible haha.

Also . . . now that you have had then a while. Do you still recommend them over ordering the OEM for $550? Do they hold up, over time? You mentioned the lip was peeling in places. Hoping these held up better?

Thanks !!!!

Yup, the sideskirts were a really good fit. Keep in mind my original purchase (and related post) was about 3 years ago, it's possible some things may have changed on the seller's end. But I'm not sure why they're saying it's not compatible with a 2020 M340i. When I made the initial purchase back then, the description just said these were for a G20, and the detailed description showed several compatible models including the M340i. I'd message the seller to confirm, sometimes the descriptions or compatibility charts can be inaccurate. And no, these did not block the puddle lights (the ones that project a logo or light pattern onto the ground).

My car was a lease that went back to the dealer a few months ago, but in the 3 years I had them on the car, these were pretty solid (definitely use self-tappers, not just the supplied double-sided tape). And no, I wouldn't pay OEM prices for cosmetic parts when knock-offs are so cheap and have a reasonably good fit and finish. Between the skirts, front lip, rear wing and shadowline grill, I must've paid a total of $550 *shipped*. The only thing I would've done differently is to have a few layers of clear coat or sealant on the front lip. The only reason it peeled so bad is because of the continuous flex due to regular impact with the ground (structurally, the ABS plastic was durable and flexible; zero cracks).

That looks good! I’d be so scared to drive in San Diego with a modded car after seeing the videos of the cops targeting modded cars.

Honestly, I've had modded cars for a majority of the 25 years I've been driving here in SD, and I've never been harassed by cops because of it. May have just gotten lucky, but I do try to behave when I'm behind the wheel
