M340i Exhaust Options

In the market for a new exhaust setup and was pondering some of the options.

I see that AWE just released an exhaust and am very tempted to pull the trigger on the track setup with black tips.

Anyone have an after market setup with some battle scars they could share? My biggest thing would be voiding warranty

BMW performance exhaust won't void warranty. Minimal HP gain but better sound. No I do not have it. Several people on here do

No exhaust should "void" a warranty unless something absolutely drastic should happen. If you're worried about that tho, go for the MPE as mentioned above and have BMW install it.

You'll forego the other options w quad tips and slightly more tame sound but is still a great option!

You'll only void the warranty on the exhaust system not the entire car. Unless BMW can prove the aftermarket part did some other damage then you'll be fine. And as already said that's unlikely especially
with a quality aftermarket system.

The only other thing is that if on finance then BMW can insist you put it back to stock if not a BMW part.

If I could, I would go MPE just to be on the cautious side but in the EU it isn't available so we don't have a choice but to look at aftermarket and play the warranty game.

Ahh yes, that's a very valid point... car is financed so wouldn't want to hear some lame excuse about an after market exhaust installed on it.

Thinking I might just wait until the warranty is up, already at 15k miles!

Thanks for all the info guys

Why not go for the M Performance Exhaust? It's awesome and you will never be bothered by BMW for warranty BS.

Another vote for MPE. No warranty issues, and good sound. Just really needs quad 3.5" tips in my opinion.
None of these systems are going to generate much power at all without a tune. And even THEN it will be barely noticeable until a downpipe is added.

I would say if voiding warranty is the biggest concern - then sticking with MPE is the way to go. If you want - you can always customize the tips if you want a quad look.

I ordered the car with the MPE installed after driving a non-MPE m340i on the dealer lot. It is a noticeable difference in sound and really opens the car up. In sport and sport+ you get all the fun burbles and pops.

Over time - if warranty becomes less important to you and if the car isn't leased - i would consider the Dinan option. Sounds like it's a bit deeper in tone than the MPE.

Yeah I'm thinking if I'm going to get an exhaust, I'm going to go all out and get a full blown setup... appreciate the insight!

For the time being I did the open exhaust valve mod to hold me over

Our exhaust system will not void the warranty on any other parts to your car, including the engine and drivetrain. We do not tamper with or alter emissions control devices, nor do we require cutting of the old system.

We also Guarantee no CEL with proper installation and back everything with a Lifetime Warranty.

Here's a good resource for you:

"According to the Magnuson-Moss Act, a vehicle manufacturer cannot automatically cancel your warranty just because you’ve installed aftermarket car parts. This is an illegal practice. That said, if your aftermarket part somehow causes or contributes to a failure in your vehicle, the dealer may be able to deny your warranty claim—as long as they can prove the connection. In these cases, the burden of proof is entirely on the dealership."

Do you do installs at your Horsham location? I live in King of Prussia and wanted to stop by. Do you have the m340 in your demo videos there so I could hear it in person?

Anyone know if you install the Dinan exhaust if your factory one can be transported in your car back home if you have someone install it?

We absolutely do installations at our Horsham location. We don't have the M340i anymore as it's been returned to it's very happy owner. I have driven all configurations though if you have any questions.

PM Sent as well.

Is the exhaust generally louder overall, or does it compare to standard comfort mode quiet at low RPM? The dual muffler setup looks awesome!

So I'm excited to announce some good news, not for you wallet though.

I'm going to be the first car to use the new Valvetronic Design full exhaust system. They should be here in the next month or so

That's the name of the company, Valvetronic Design. People always think talking about the valvetronic system lol, but it's the name of the company. This is their website https://valvetronic.com/
