I don't think it would reach that high. Let's use the X3 M40i as a benchmark: it's $55,645 starting w/ destination.

Building one with metallic paint, executive, premium, and HK audio is $62,670 MSRP. I would guess a well equipped M340i would be around there before discounts, which is very reasonable.

I guess I'm trying to build something similar to my current 2017 340i xDrive which had an MSRP of $66,545 (including destination) but the big difference is that there were a lot of incentives when I bought my car in October 2016 (so right when the 2017s came out) - my sales price was $57,930 (based on going back on the documentation). I'm assuming this included all of my rebates (Corporate Fleet rebate of $1500, and Conquest cash of $1000) - I think I paid $60,430 before the incentives.

My build sheet included Metallic Paint, Cold Weather Pkg, Driver Assistance Pkg, Driver Assistance Plus Pkg, Lighting Pkg, Technology Pkg, Active Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay, Black Kidney Grille, M-Performance Power & Sound Kit (MPPSK).

I suppose I could eliminate a lot of the options to get the price down.

With BMW doing away with the ability to combine incentives and the increase in pricing, I expect that same build will be close to, if not over $70k. I'll have to see what kind of discounts off MSRP are available (if any) - but with increased interest rates, unless BMW helps out a lot with the residuals - the monthly is going to be expensive.

A lot of that is included in tiers now. For example the technology package doesn't exist anymore. What I quoted had most of that.

Gotcha - well, that seems promising. I'd be psyched for a $62-63k MSRP M340i, if thats the case perhaps I could even lower my monthly payment (although I doubt it).

Wonder if there will be an option to replace that front grille :-)

I was in San Diego for some meeting in early December and was able to drive to LA to catch a couple of hours at the auto show. I did check out the M340i in person. It is overall quite good looking but the grille does not get any better in person (to me at least). It is like a plastic cover with a pattern - it appears that no air will pass through? Also don't like all the chrome/silver accents around it and also on the interior dash. Everything else seems fine.

I think it is an "active grille" in other words, when it needs the extra cooling, the grille will open up to let air in, otherwise it stays closed for better aerodynamics.

I too hope there is an option to replace the grille though! The M550i didn't get such an awful looking grille.

The base price for the M340i (in Belgium) is going to be 65.500 euro including 21% VAT tax (54.132 euro excluding VAT). Co2 emissions is approximately 172 g/km (NEDC 2.0). The base price is a premium of 15.000 euro compared to the 330i. IMHO not that bad considering that the M340i will come equipped with features for which I would have to pay for with the 330i like the M Sport Pack, M Suspension, M Rear Differential, M Brakes and offcourse the B58 I6 instead of the B48 I4. And also in my case because I get a 20% (fleet) discount on the base price (but not on the options), the end invoice will be 'okay' in comparison to the 330i.

Almost the same price with C43 AMG which is a few years old and less optioned, and the only viable competition. So why would it be a joke?

Pricing guide is out here: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1583672

Loaded m340 xi is 69k and change so my guess of 70 k was pretty close. Leases are going to be high 900. Tough

Exactly, just configure a C43... pricing is very similar.

It isn't as bad as I thought, configured the same - the MSRP price is within $500 of my 2017 340i xDrive with MPPSK.

Lets just hope for some lease support from BMW Financial and we could be seeing decent lease prices.

I believe the days of heavy subsidized BMW lease deals are over, but we shall see...

We won't see 64% residuals anymore...

But looking at the 330 as a guideline in just the first month of sales 59% 12k and 60% 10k plus 2k lease credit is still pretty competitive... if not better than competition

My observation is that they have made 2 key adjustments to the program which undoubtedly have resulted in higher profit of lease but it's not as much as it appears
1. Reduce residuals overall
2. Plus up lease cash incentives to partially balance the residual offset, and make this the primary lease subsidy lever

This has the effect of reducing liability at lease turn in (3 years post purchase date) and pulling the liability forward to align with actual purchase date. So to move more cars in December they take the hit in December not 3 years down the road. It's better risk management.
Secondary affect is as a customer adds more options to a lease the lease cash doesn't scale like a residual would because the lease cash is fixed. So those who are demonstrating less price sensitivity pay more relative to if bmw was subsidizing with residual rate.

That was my feel. I'm curious if there will be another MPPK or MPPSK for this one.
