It's seriously unfortunate they're strapping performance models to luxury centric options. I also doubt their proclaimed weight savings on the platform is representative of a car you can actually buy in NA knowing this strategy.

Didn't finish reading all the post but the first few that talks about closing in the range of m3... that's comparing with the old m3, technically.
Not rich, but I think the price seems to be reasonable. Like some say, m3/4's price aren't going to be pretty as well, since they are gonna have to pull the pricing apart with the m340. |

The 340 with the power kit already outruns the S4

This is $7k higher base price, but you get the m sport brakes, which cost $1400 before.. so more like a $5k price increase. So, $15k is what's stopping people from buying an M3. (assuming the M3 price doesn't go up too, which it probably will). The goal in the end is to have a car at every price point, so no matter what price you can pay (within reason), you can get a car that feels like you got 'more' than the cheaper one, but still leaves you longing for the more expensive one so you want to buy it later. |

Basically, I've realized reading the comments around here that this is not actually a website for BMW fans ... it's a website for BMW haters.
Don't like the car? Don't buy it. I'm sure BMW will miss you 🙄 |

Not too bad. Wife's '17 had a MSRP of $62k flat (details below), plus the MPPK kit for a $2,500 after it hit the dealer, so this seems inline, we were at $64,500'ish.
Base: $47,800 Paint: $550, Dakota, $1450, Cold $800, Driver $950, Driver Plus $1,700, LED $800, M-Sport $2600, Tech $2750, Track Handling $1700, M-Sport 19" $900 for $62k. Edit with details Last edited by bjcarls; 12-10-2018 at 03:36 PM.. |

My annual raises are not keeping up with these price hikes LOL. I paid 55k after discounts on a 2017 X5 with premium and hk and smaller items...
Looks like I'll probably be waiting for a 1-2 year old used one that will take a 30%+ depreciation hit. As someone said above, if I don't like it, BMW won't be missing me. They'll probably catch me on the CPO end though later

My 2016 340i xDrive was $62k. It was loaded (M Sport, Track Pack, Premium Pack, Cold Weather, Driver Assist, Technology, etc.), but I didn't get lane departure warning or blind spot monitoring, and several things weren't available that are on the new one, like LSD, sensatec dash, hands free driving, digital cluster, and probably a handful of other items I'd have to go through the ordering guide to figure out.
I can't really "build" my car to be comparable to the new one since I couldn't get LSD, sensatec dash, digital cluster, etc., but had those items been available on my car I would have gotten them. They'd have added at least a few grand to the price, which it looks like is pretty much what a comparable 2020 M340i xDrive will be. For a four model year newer vehicle, that doesn't seem out of line. It's right on top of what a C43 AMG runs, and only marginally more than a comparable S4, which this should pretty easily outclass in both tech and performance. What will the 2020 S4 cost, especially if Audi updates it to keep pace with BMW and Mercedes? I don't care if a Hyundai is cheaper. If you do, go buy one. You think Porsche cares that their cars are more expensive than other brands? All this hate over a car no one on here has driven or ridden in, and 99.999% haven't even seen. Sometimes I think the best thing that could happen to BMW would be for all the haters on here to follow through with their threats to leave the brand. |

At this point they're better off staying out of the route guidance business and just natively support Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
