03-04 cobras usually made around 380rwhp (370-390 depending on dyno) stock @ 3650 pounds. So is it safe to say the M340i comes with about 380whp from factory? Not too shabby. Man, I will always have a soft spot for 03-04 cobras.

Aside from all nit picking here, I thought it was a pretty positive review. Is it 10/10 ? No but a solid 8.

I would say Audi too but Audi has has the S versions for years (not full blown RS cars). Audi was just lucky that taking 1 letter off was possible and no one cared. It's still marketing the same as BMW is now doing it. They tried other ways first, so you know this wasn't their first choice, like the "is" badge which was horrible. They had to capitalize on the M brand name which you can't blame them for it's a business after all. But I do wish there was another way. And at the very least they shouldn't put m badges all over the damn thing. Just keep it to rear badge. |

Just for the sake of perspective... Reports all over the place of tesla model 3 hitting 60 in LESS than 3.5 seconds, which I questioned initially, given that tesla themselves say 5.1 seconds!! (since revised as it was clearly BS). But then one owner did the quarter in 11.85 seconds, so the 0-60 is probably about right. And the car is currently changing hands at US dealers with some upgrades for $50k
This I think is worth baring in mind when considering where the performance of the 340i fits in. If you can get one on a good lease deal, no brainer. But buying outright would worry me (for any performance IC car) right now, as the performance bar in a few years time when you look to re-sell the car, could be very different. I'm not saying the Tesla is a direct comparison, and god knows what it handles like.. But it's very, very clear that the current level of electric performance can quite easily create a car at a comparable price that can pull the pants down on an IC equivalent. It's just a matter of time before one is packaged in a way that does compete/compare directly with a performance 3er, and probably at a similar price point. Personally I'm hoping that the firm to put out such a car first is BMW |

That car was an xi. Rwd would be a bit slower.

That's ok. I ran a 13.0 with my manual M3. The car is hard to launch but once it grips it picks up speed much better than my previous 335. We have a lot of magazine racers here with AWD and automatic transmissions that just hit the gas and go. The trap speed shows the potential of the car and 112 is very good for a non-M 3 series.

Makes sense since I'm at 355 hp and 369 torque with mppsk so less hp but the same torque RWD and can do it in 4.6 so 4.4 for the M340i would sound about right.
