This kinda sucks, so if I get the 6MT its a detuned model which is roughly the same amount of power as an F80 comp? Why bother honestly? Sad day...

OK let me make this whole thing a bit more precise.
Three M3 models: - entry level M3 is targeting 450PS (444hp, not 454) - "standard" M3 is 475hp (not PS - can we just all go to metric now please?) - we won't need to wait for Competition in M4 - there will be M3 Competition too, with 500hp. The suggestion that S58 will use water injection... Let's just pretend they never said that, OK? One important bit about motors: the engine in the entry model is not just a different tune, it's a different engine level (think about the difference between 320i and 330i: same foundation, but plenty of different parts that make it impossible to turn 20i into 30i with just a chip). |

Intro date, this fall??? No way. Maybe next spring and M4 won't come out at same time since old 4 series still in production this year. Power is higher than all previous reports of about 460. Although those were reports for X3/X4. It wouldn't be unheard of for BMW to give different power outputs to the same engine on different M cars but really would just piss off X3M buyers since their cars already have a weight disadvantage. |

It's not about finding one in the used market, it's about finding one that hasn't been molested and actually had proper maintenance done. If it were that simple I'd just have an E46 M3 again. But they're all bagged and behind on maintenance, even pricey ones. I've had 13 M cars, and I'm finally just exhausted when it comes to pouring 3-10K in right away to fix everything the PO neglected.

Oh, yeah, this little nugget... The best they can do for September 2019 is a concept. Production M3s won't show up before late 2020.

Of course; but then is there a possibility that the auxiliary screen can be deleted in favour of running just the live dash?

Note that for US 718 T's, the radio delete available for ROW cars isn't possible because of the requirement of a back up camera for our market.

It's interesting to see that BMW doesn't have a manual box that can handle higher than 480 lb-ft.
Some people say the cars of today have too much power + torque and manual can't handle anymore. But then you look at the Corvette ZR1 755HP & 715 lb-ft with a manual. That basically tells you BMW is not willing to spend anymore to develop one that can handle the power. So this gen will be the end of the line for manuals. Also, what about tuning the manual? The owner would have to spend $ to upgrade the transmission also even with just a tune. |

So the manual version not only is RWD only but also has less power? Somehow BMW can't make a manual nor DCT that can handle that much power even though Porsche can?
May as well give us an "updated" E30 manual and call it the M3 Classic. |

The real question is whether the pure version will have a handbrake or not.
Man. I know the g80/2 will come with a lot of driving dynamic improvements but I love the current analog semi digital dash cluster and physical handbrake. Not to mention a normal sized kidney grill. The g80/2 will most definitely have conjoined and over the hoodline kidney grill. |

65kg less weight for the standard version is a lot. Plus we all know BMW is going to underrate the hp figures. But in regards to the weight it will be much lighter than its competition.
