2021 M340 Ambient Lighting Different Than 2020?

Yo! My sincere apologies if someone has asked/posted about this, I just haven't been able to find anything...About to order a 2021 M340i xDrive next month and from some pictures it appears like the ambient lighting is a bit more subdued and 'indirect' than the big aggressive 'lines' of light in the 2020's. I LOVE ambient lighting and think Mercedes has dominated everyone with it for a few years and excited that BMW is stepping it up. This will be BMW number 7 for me and I've always wanted better interior lighting.

From a few pics that I have seen the '21's look like the lighting is almost behind a lip of the dash so you get more of a glow than a big in your face light. Can anyone confirm or have a pic they could share? Here are are a few examples...

The ambient light looks he same even on the 2019 330s.

Maybe the lighting is subdued due to the LED intensity. If this is the case, the LED intensity can be adjusted through the idrive settings.

What would it of took in the electronics/materials for BMW to give 64 different color choices like Mercedes does, instead of merely 11 found in the M340? Is it because materials/labor were much more money to get 64 color choices and BMW wanted to save money? Curious how much more it really would of cost BMW to offer 64 colors and match Mercedes? I mean if you are going thru the trouble to put out 11 what more would it take to offer 64 or more?

It would cost BMW nothing in terms of hardware. All they needed to do was redo the coding on the iDrive since these LEDs can basically emit any color we want.

Cost is not the issue. This is a design decision. BMW approaches the lighting as curated moods or scenes. Mercedes, Ford, and others simply hand the color wheel to customers so they can decide. More choices or creativity would be nice.

My 2021 M340xi ambient lights on the inside door handles are so dim you can hardly notice then and I have the brightness at max which is a bummer. I think this is different than the 330i or the 2020 I have seen videos and they look much better.

Is your instrument cluster navigation connected to your waze, because it looks that way on the image?
