Are there better dealers in the Wisconsin / Chicago area that I should look at first before going to just any local BMW dealer?
I worked with a broker for a car in the Chicago area (I live in Minneapolis) he got me a m340i order from a Chicago dealer at 10% off MSRP pre-incentives and $3k in incentives on top. So around $57000 for my $67k m340i at base MF. Happy to pass on contact information if you want to do the same. I'm getting my car in 10 days, can't wait to drive it home.

There was a dealer in Chicago area that was willing to do 10.5% off. If you PM me I can refer you.

2021 330 x drive

Just closed a deal for a friend on a 2021 330 x drive. Was a factory order to my spec. 36 no Lease. 10% off MSRP. money factor at buy rate. And incentives at time of delivery will also be applied on top of the 10%.

We also bought a 8 series this month from the same dealership so I'm sure that helped but I suspect this deal is possible for anyone. Certainly worth exploring as it was also quite possibly the best buying experience in my 5 BMWs. Happy to share dealership and salesperson. Feel free to PM as I don't believe I'm allowed to post.

Best of luck. Hope this is helpful.

2021 m340i XDrive

Recently purchased a 2021 M340i xDrive. Thanks to all in this forum for sharing their information, just paying it forward.

Chicago suburban dealer:

MSRP: $63,620
Sale Price: $57,490
Rebate: $2,500
Final Price: $54,990 (13.6% off MSRP)

-Black Sapphire Metallic
-Shadowline Package
-Premium Package
-Driving Assistance Package
-Parking Assistance Package
-HK Sound System
-Wireless charging
-Remote start

Dealers very tough to deal with: Laurel, MotorWerks (awful, didn't call me back after promising more competitive pricing after trying to gouge me on retail price).

To me, with this standard 6% off BS, seems like all these dealers are walking the line of price fixing. The more we share data with each other the more we can install competition and force competitive pricing. I encourage everyone to share the deal data to help.

I also had a tough time with Laurel. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, told them since they're close to me, and since I liked the sales guy, I'll give them the first opportunity to win my business - but if they didn't want to work on the numbers reasonably, then I'd have no issue taking my business elsewhere to one of the 15-20 dealers around Chicagoland. They pretty much didn't budge past 3%, so they were dead to me

Picked up last week in the Twin Cities:

2021 M340xi
66,005 MSRP
12% off
4K incentives/rebates ($1.5k lease credit, $500 loyalty, $1k OL code for Drive to End Hunger, "extra" year end $1K loyalty)
$54,075 selling price
$2840 down (tax, title, license, doc fees, first month's payment)
5 MSDs down ($3K)

$555/month in MN (36/10k)

Gave an extra "year end $1k loyalty" incentive, so, let the marked up money factor slide that they would not budge on (.00122)....3rd time leasing from this dealership.

Yes, they did start out with the 2% discount earlier in the month (lol), but had a few dealerships going at each other and after one visit in person, got down to the above.

Anybody in Texas know a good dealer willing to provide a reasonable discount on a custom order [heavily optioned] M340i xDrive?
I plan to trade in my 2017 340 and lease the new one.

My friend is looking for a 2021 330i non xdrive. What sort of take home price should he be looking for w/ the Jan discounts? Located in CA.

This is his first new car purchase and most of the posts here are around the 340i. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

Long time follower. I am looking to get into a new m340i as others have suggested I am hitting that 6% sale price wall. Im looking for 11-12% that has been mentioned on the forum quite a few time over the past month or so. If anyone has a contact, preferably in the Ohio area I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

I found that none of the dealers in Ohio were willing to break the 6% mark. To get above that you would be best to look in the DC metro area or NJ. Some of the Chicago dealerships got close to 10%, but were beat by others.

My dealer wouldn't come up much more than 6% on an M340i but figured since they are willing to go through the process of getting me an individual color I will just take it to develop some good will. Later this year when I get my M50i I will shop countrywide due to the potential savings and may need them for courtesy delivery.

If we all don’t accept 6% off, then they will be forced to sell at more realistic pricing. We can determine that by not budging at anything less than 10%, otherwise they will become car collectors, not sellers.

True but keep in mind that discounts are regional. In my region 6% is considered a good deal. In many it is a poor one. Just be glad we aren't in the PNW, Washington in particular, where 4% is an outstanding deal since most dealers seem to stick to MSRP.

I got 7% off and I ordered a car because the lot didn't have one I wanted. Out here it seems like you won't get as good a deal if you order as opposed to take what they have.

If by "we" you mean all Bimmerpost participants, it will have no impact whatsoever. Many potential buyers have no idea this forum even exists.

I understand, and I do believe this is driven by demand (us). If us buyers are accepting only 4-6% off MSRP, then they have pricing power. If not, they will be forced to provide better pricing.

Much more involved than demand especially since BMW has evidently changed the bonus structure for dealers. Many can't go much below invoice since they will not sell enough to make up for what they are losing on each vehicle.

Not only that but that is not the way US consumers operate, especially in this market. It would be next to impossible to try and get folks to not buy a BMW because of a few percentage points of discount. Most buyers do not do much research or care to negotiate much beyond the dealer offer. As far as they are concerned they are getting a deal when the dealer comes off MSRP.

In my opinion the best course of action if one wants to spend the time in order to save some money is to shop many different dealers in various regions. Saying a person should not accept a discount below a certain figure is not realistic or applicable in this segment.

This only works if the people on this forum were the only ones buying BMW's. In reality, the amount of casual buyers who go in and buy cars at 3-4% discount dwarfs the buyers on this forum who are looking at large discounts to the 10th of a percent.

It's a good mindset amongst the enthusiast community but not really applicable in the real-world.

I understand your theory. Although, I disagree with it based on number of users and unique visitors on sites like CarGurus, KBB, Cars, TrueCar, etc. The probability of a BMW buyer going into a dealership without looking at, at least, one of these sites is very low. By this, these sites have partnerships with the dealerships and essentially price fix. That’s where this “6-7% off is invoice” nonsense comes from. Large discounts like 10% or more are certainly debatable, but large amount of 3-4% off buyers? That’s absurd and would be indicative of negligible research online.

I used to have this very narrow mindset like everyone thinks the same way like people on this forum - it could not be further from the truth. How we think people shop for cars on this forum doesn't necessarily happen. After working for BMW and Audi, it really opens your eyes on who actually buy cars and how they buy cars.

Everyone knows you can get a discount and people usually do, but everyone does not try to fight for that 7% minimum or the 10% that usually gets thrown around on this forum. Everyone thinks they know how consumers shop and it's usually reflective of their habits and what they would do but it's not always like that.
