Color combo question

My past 3 BMW's have all been carbon black with black leather. I'm going to switch things up with the M340i. I'm thinking mineral grey with cognac. My question is how well does this pair with the shadowline trim and cerium grey wheels? I think it looks good online, but not sure if the black from the shadowline trim clashes with the lack of black on the rest of the car.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I went with black wheels because I thought the cerium gray wheels were too light for shadowline package.

I have the extended black shadowline, but the cerium wheels and think it looks great (my car is mineral white though). Having the cerium wheels gives a bit of contrast to all of the dark colors especially with mineral grey).

I had black sapphire metallic with cognac and cerium grey wheels+trims. Looks pretty sweet.

I am not 30 so take this with a grain of salt. I don't get the fascination with shadowline, looked at it before ordering and didn't like it. I did order Mineral Grey with Cognac because I really wanted the matte oak trim. Black with black trim is a lot of black. I have had four black interior BMW's, and decided to do something different with this one. Mineral Grey with Cerium Grey mirror caps and wheels breaks up the exterior nicely.

Personally I'm not a fan of the gray wheels it is very light, I got the black rims with the extended shadowline trim, if you not a fan of all black rims I'll probably go with the grey/black rims.

The oak trim is grey-ish, right? Did you find it blends well with the cognac in the same way that the mineral grey blends with the cognac?

Historically I've always gone with Aluminum mesh. Not a fan of the Aluminum tetregon.

I think the shadowline makes the front profile a bit more aggressive. At least looking at it online, I think I like the look just a tad better than the non-shadowline. I'm also not 30..... haha

I looked at those too, look great in person. Also, congrats on picking up your car. Worth the wait I hope.

The open pore oak goes VERY well with cognac. It's blackish-greyish (with a hint of brownish). Here is my interior...

Thanks for posting. I have only seen this combination in pictures as my car is just rolling off the line in Mexico. Won't see it in person for a month or so.

No problem. The only difference is that yours will have the lower part of the dash in cognac colored plastic (vs the black leather covered on mine - the US doesn't get this option for some odd reason).

I don't like the coloured dash which is why i went for the dakota seats. If the above combination was available the Uk I'd have been very interested as that looks great.

I was planning on ordering mineral grey with cognac leather, open pore oak, and anthracite roof lining. I still think it is a stylish combination, gives more color and brightness to the car instead of the pitch black, cave-like feeling. I agree that the dash should have been kept black like on earlier versions. In the end I went with mocha instead but I know it's been discontinued in the US. Too bad, in Europe it's still available.

I'm leaning towards the oak now that a few of you have mentioned it instead of the aluminum mesh. Looks good.

What wheels did you go with to match the mineral grey?

I ordered 18'' Double-spoke style/ 790 M Bicolour / MT which are standard with M performance package in Scandinavia. I also kept the grill and exhaust pipes in chrome, but black shadow line windows and roof railings. With brown and wood interior I think all-black exterior would be a mismatch, now I think I have a good balance between black and chrome details on the exterior. Given a larger budget, though, I would have considered the Tanzanite Blue with all-chrome exterior details which is also a beautiful color, and goes well with cognac.

Would you wear a brown/cognac shirt with a dark gray suit?

Dark grey suit with cognac/brown shoes is a very common look.

But not necessarily a good one. The shirt would be horrible.
Yeah, I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Would black leather interior with aluminum trim be the equivalent of a dark suit with a white belt?

Lol. I definitely would not rock a brown shirt.

Here is the final result, mineral grey with mocca and oak open pore interior. I think it looks great. Exterior color actually pops more than I expected.
