Best uk aftermarket exhaust

Evening all,

My new m340i is due to arrive at the end of September. I've read multiple threads regarding the exhaust note being muted on the 2021 models.

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket exhaust over here? I understand the mpe isn't available over here? What is everyone running? Dp or just cat back?

Thanks

Hey there. Yes the 2021s don't possess the burble potential, aggression, or cold-start theatrics of the 2020s. (Software updates over time and especially this spring haven't helped either version on the acoustics front, as many threads here attest, so beware and avoid auto-downloads when yours arrives.) Given the absence of the MPE--so unfortunate, since the impressions of its amplifications from US folks are uniformly positive--your best bet is a warranty-compatible exhaust from ACS.

Thanks, I'll have a look at them. I'm hoping the ecu is cracked soon, I'll probably get rid of the opf and add a downpipe when they can be tuned

EDIT* ouch, nice price tag on those exhausts 🤣

Good plan, indeed: a remap at some stage and a new pipe would elevate a '21 B58 to super satisfying heights, I suspect. And yes, ACS
isn't cheap--but if you're going to keep your 40 long term, then the investment starts looking more reasonable. Alternatively, it may be that a bespoke map would meet your needs anyway, as the stock exhaust itself can be more than sufficiently rewarding; it's just the filters and software adjustments (among other interventions) that seem to have subdued the real weapon the lurks beneath!

Quite interested maybe in talking to these guys: https://www.dmsautomotive.com/perfor...exhaust_tuning

I don't want more power - it goes fast enough for me already, though I guess I could be persuaded. But an exhaust tune might be interesting. However, having had a farty poppy Golf R estate (which seem to be noisier than hatch) that the wife could hear coming from about 3 miles away, I quite like a quiet car.

You can always go the cheap and simple route and unplug the exhaust valve plug. I did that and the start up and daily drive notes are much better.
