Feels the same to me - reduced vibration warning but the intervention is still pretty aggressive! Had two close calls as a result already and I'm not even 800 miles in yet!

All car with newest software from factory are unable switching off permanently lane assist. Had this on my 135i August 2020 built and same on new 3 collected yesterday. It comes back every time after switching off and on engine. Very annoying.
Pre-set on shortcut buttons and switching off lane assist every time before driving.

I posted this on Instagram and tagged BMWUK and they got in touch, apparently affects cars built between September 2020 and March 2021.

Over the air update coming which will remember your preferred setting - apparently.

Hopefully it will materialize what they are saying.
Thanks for info.

This is driving me insane after one day of ownership. The 320d I had remembered the setting and that was a 21 plate as well.

I was driving past a cyclist the other day and as I travelled over the centre white lines the car tried to pull me back into the left! I am sure the guy thought I was trying to knock him off. Not a great experience.

I know indicating turns this off but sometimes it's not appropriate/possible to keep indicating.

After all, it IS a BMW....

I realised the other day that the reason I hardly ever notice lane assist is because I do tend to indicate a lot, even for small manouvres.

Indeed! I am also pretty good with indicating as it’s a pet hate at junctions/roundabouts etc when people just don’t.

Holding the button in for 10 secs seems to turn all safety systems off, just want lane assist off.

Has anyone tried programming one of the shortcut buttons to this option?

Tried and failed it doesn't like it. Annoyingly you still have to press the button, scroll to individual and switch off the steering intervention. Hate it.

I mentioned this on an instagram post and had a response from a very knowledgeable chap at BMW UK (quite the coding guru by all accounts!) and he said that i need to get my car booked in with my dealer.

They can plug in and update the software to post 03/2021 and that will enable "memory" on the steering intervention tick box.

I have been in touch with my dealer!

I've been following this post with great interest since I have a new car on the way.
One question is this system a feature of the DAP in the Tech Plus Pack only?

Nope, believe it's standard on all models hence the high level of engagement (hate!) in this thread.

Oh my, the promised land! Genuinely excited if this actually works out.

Thanks Pete!

Oh bugger! Thanks for that info I shall speak to the dealer and if the current chatter proves successful I'll ask for that function to be disabled at PDI as I'd absolutely hate that and the faff on every time I came to drive the car!

My dealer updated the software on my 420i yesterday. When I drove the car home afterwards the steering intervention was already off. I have to try it properly but the dealer assures me the problem is now resolved. They also advised that the speed camera warning will now appear in the HUD. I have yet to pass a camera so will update my findings soon.

I asked and he suggested it was not going to be OTA anytime soon. Hence the dealer visit.

I have a narrow country road near me and this regularly tries to crash me!

The timing of build dates seems to make sense, I have a neighbour with a slightly older 3 series and he'd turned it off no problem...on mine it always resets.

I'll contact my dealer.

Thanks everyone
