or did I read that wrong?
Both E90 and F80 followed the same logic.
Yeah I guess I didn't realize the F80 did this as well since it does still look very similar to the F30. From the sound of it, the G80 is going to be a much larger departure from the G30 than the F series took. Guess we'll see
You know a GTR does not sound so bad anymore. Lol

Ugh I hope it doesn't look terrible or too huge like the 7 LCI or X7...otherwise I may just have to consider an F82.

I hate to be that guy that's going to be like "i GuEsS mErCeDeS iS gOiNg To GeT mY mOnEy"... but holy hell. This would be a serious aesthetics killer for me, and would most definitely make me seek other options. Might as well just keep the F80 then.

Maybe M division cars will finally be discernable from the non-M cars to non-enthusiasts and the general public?

If they go with a tall grille on the next M3 it'll save me a ton of money because I will not even consider buying it.

Thanks?

Not sure what you mean. The F80 looks IMHO more distinguished compared to the F30 than all other M3 versions compared to its regular version except the E30 (the M4 is another story).

Agree the F80 looks a lot different. From flared rear to CF roof and front hood, bumpers and especially if you picked an M color.

This reminds me of when Audi introduced their new, larger "bass-mouth" grille (I think it was in 2006). I had a 2004 S4 at the time and was appalled by the new design. None of us Audi owners liked it then, and I still don't like it.

I don't understand why BMW is going in this direction, when it's clearly not appealing to many of their devoted, repeat customers?

Truth. I've never liked how the front plate was integrated in the Audi grilles.

Maybe they'll go the Alfa route, but I doubt it.

yuck...I am not a fan of the larger grills...may be a deal breaker for me. I guess I will have to wait and see how it looks.

Oh no... X7 is the only car pulling it off with the huge grill and even that one would look better 10% smaller

2006 vs. 2005:
If I was guessing, I’d say it was because in the last 13 years since Audi switched designs, despite how much you might personally dislike it, they’ve grown in market share much faster than BMW and Benz, so much so that globally they’re near those two. Building marketshare doesn’t come from simply re-engaging your existing buyers, you have to conquest them from the competition. Audi was doing great at that. BMW is trying it now.
