Back-up Assistant Memory Issue

I have a long driveway with no room to turn around, so the back-up assistant can be useful sometimes. I noticed today when I went to use it that it did activate, but it displayed “0 ft” instead of “164 ft” and when I let off the brake it immediately deactivated. I drove around a bit and went to test it again and it worked fine. After testing some more it seems that the “memory” for the drive path isn’t working. Meaning that if I pull into my driveway and turn the car off, when I get back in it will not work, but if I pull in and put the car in reverse without turning the car off then everything works as it should, but that isn’t very useful. I have done some coding with bimmercode so I will start reverting things back to stock and see if something I coded is causing this. Has anyone else noticed backup assistant acting up like this? It’s a 2020 M340i Xdrive that I’ve only had for a month, and backup assistant worked fine for the first couple weeks.

Also just a side note, this car is freakin unbelievable and even though I came from driving a 2019 M2C and a 2019 X3 m40i, it still managed to surprise me with how smooth it drives and how hard it launches. Limited slip diff on the back of an awd is something special.

After putting everything back to stock with bimmercode I’m still having some problems. The backup assistant seems to work intermittently and I can’t find any pattern. Perhaps proximity to objects or something having to do with the condition of the car when pulling into the spot. I will go to dealership soon for service so I will mention it to them and see what they have to say

I use my reversing assistant every morning backing out of my driveway. Turning off the engine does not deactivate it.

Try to reboot iDrive and see if this helps. Hold down the volume/mute knob (push in) for 25+ seconds and iDrive should reboot.

Ah, I think it’s because I’m parking with DSC off and it’s not tracking my path.

Yes, operating manual says DSC must be active to record the path.
