They also didn't lose this season. OSU got blown out by Purdue...

Doesn't matter because it's likely going to be Alabama-Clemson. IV
Clemson lost their quarterback early in the 2nd quarter of that game to a suspected concussion. It was also his first ever start. Clemson played the rest of that game with their 3rd string QB since their previous starting QB decided to transfer earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, ND knocked out Syracuse's starting quarterback midway through the first quarter, so they blew out a 'cuse team with the backup QB playing almost the entire game.

Simple, OU revenged their one loss(to a ranked team). Ohio st got trounced by a unranked 6-6 Purdue.

This years final four was clear, a year of chalk.

Georgia had their chance and blew it.

Why say it's the 4 best teams? Obviously it's not. Not statistically. It's the 3 best conference winners and ND.

Beat me to it, Ken.

Not really a surprise, I guess (despite recent AD denials).

I knew Meyer was on the outs, when media started bringing up his medical issues again during middle of season.

this is the end of an era at Ohio State. What a ride it was. Meyer took the program from a B level to the A level and perennial contenders. I hope Day can keep it going. This is the first time since the 80s, they hired an "outsider" as a HC, and in this case, there was no other candidate other than Day. He needs to deliver. By year 4, after he's done riding the coattails of Meyer, we'll assess whether he's been successful or not.

B-level? Hadn't they gone to 3 national championships in like a 6 year span under Tressel?

Program was A-level before and it stayed A-level with Meyer. If anything, he underachieved

Not so sure. They both won one NC (a very late flag from the refs helped Tressel with his) and Tressel's reign ended in probation and a season's worth of vacated wins, as well as a losing season between his time and Meyer's.

I still think Tressel was at a B level. After all he did lose 2 NCGs to SEC teams, though he did beat a top 10 SEC team in 2011. The reality is, Tressel was only a regional recruiter. My theory is that he was so successful recruiting Big Ten regions that it was actually detrimental to the conference's overall strength as all the talent was pooled up in 1 school.

Meyer took it to a different level. He is a national recruiter, and he has consistently put Ohio State in the top 4 in recruiting and performance every year.

Did you notice one of them was a perennial loser like 2 years ago? They have been over rated for fifty years..you know one of those "independents" I'm glad they chose not to honor the big 10 with their presence. And I realize its a money thing. But don't reward them by comparing them with a power 5 conference (well maybe Power 4

Is there any question that this year or 2 years ago they wouldn't have gotten out of the bigten and been in the final 4.

Virtual wast of time having these two games. Did anyone think a great offensive team without a meaningful defense could upset Alabama who has a very good O and a better D?

I can't see another team out the SEC challenge Alabama next year neither

Mich got crushed by an o.k. Florida team. The big SEC schools just makes other conferences look weak.

So being a UCF fan and watching the games... this is one of those situation where I can at least somewhat safely say only Clemson and AL are teams that would definitively beat us. Expand the playoffs asap; this is all slowly becoming a joke.
