There is very little information around about what to change for coding the g20. It seems with esys people use the cheat sheets most of the time so don't know the actual codes to change.

Have a look through the standard bimmercode options and see what you want. Some things I've done are adjusting the audible lock signal so it is more discreet, display tyre temperature along with pressure, remove the diesel logo, change the default driving mode (I went for Adaptive but many people choose sport), adjusted the mirror tilt on reverse to be a little less (60%), video in motion and a few other things.

From memory in expert mode I added the M badge on the instrument cluster and added Comfort+ mode.
Just finished coding a few bits, I went for -

Tyre pressure and temp ‘widget’ in instrument cluster
Comfort+
Disable camera warnings
Added equaliser/bower Wilkins presets
Video in motion

Whereabouts is the audible lock Volume option in normal mode?

I can’t seem to find it.

Going to make a cheat sheet I think and make it public so we can keep a list.

Great idea on the cheat sheet.

It's under Roof Function Center. Mine was Active by default just not turned on but is adjusted here.

Thanks - I've coded the volume to be lower now.

By the way for those interested in coding the ambient lighting then have a look at this thread. It is possible to do it in expert mode.

It takes a while to get your head around but once you figure it out it's actually not that hard.

I've just coded mine today to replace the Bronze/White profile with a Blue/Red

Let me know if you need any help.

Do you have a description of what you changed and to what values? I looked at that thread and it really isn’t clear 😀

Would anyone be able to comment if you can adjust the weight of the steering? Not asking for the 3 series specifically but for my Mini which I imagine is very similar in terms of the coding.

TIA.

What about OTA updates. Do you lose the coding after the car updates? Or are they disabled by default after coding? Because I wouldn’t want to lose the OTA updates...

Does anyone know if Bimmercode can be used to code Comfort Plus setting?

You will lose the coding after an OTA update. I am not sure if you can disable OTA updates via coding.

There is a risk that a dealer may refuse a warranty claim due to coding if they spot it. I follow a few principles to mitigate that risk:

- Don't update the car's FA. Just modify it in esys without ever writing it to the car
- Revert all code to stock prior to a scheduled dealer visit
- Clear all error codes prior to a dealer visit
- Don't code any cosmetic changes like boot logo's - if it stands out as odd it will draw suspicion. This is for the unscheduled dealer visit scenarios

Others will say there is no risk with coding, purely because they have never had an issue to that point. I prefer my approach.

And I would agree. I like fiddling and did a lot of coding on my F31 (some of it like speed display and puddle lights utterly pointless, but if it's there to be fiddled with) and also on my A6 using VCDS. The most useful on both was the single fob keypress to shut the tailgate and I was about to do this on my new G21 but since reading that I've decided that holding the button works for me. The car is leased so not mine, strictly speaking, and if it got warranty blacklisted due to me pissing about the financial consequences could be far-reaching. I'm glad I didn't fire up ESys now.

Anyway, anyone thinking of coding should be aware of possible consequences.

I can fully understand (and agree with) blacklisting remapped cars, and to some extent cars with modified geometry (spacers etc), but removing warranty because someone has changed a logo on the dash during startup seems a bit extreme.

Seems harsh to penalise someone for just enabling/tweaking something they ship in their code.

I think everyone would agree but from the manufacturer's POV tampering (at whatever level) potentially destroys Type Approval and would foster a suspicion that an "enthusiastic amateur" could have buggered up all sorts of checksums and so on. It's good that more and more configurations that used to need coding are moving to iDrive options and the ones that are not (e.g. video in motion) probably shouldn't be messed with in the first place.

I recently bought an adaptor to use with Bimmercode but haven't got around to doing it.

And this thread means that I probably never will....

I can just imagine the fall-out on my lease: the agreement specifically mentions "no modifications or alterations" and I could just imagine taking the car to the dealer for an entirely unrelated issue and them advising Alphabet (the owner) that warranty was invalid unless <insert sum here> was paid to revert the car back to normal or even worse, that no warranty would be accepted in any case, and then the legal wranglings one would have with Alphabet - regardless of if the coding was "trivial" - when I had explicitly and specifically agreed, in writing, not to "modify or alter it". Could be ruinous.

I'll hold the button on the fob to close the tailgate...

If you're out of warranty and / or own the car then it's entirely different but I think it is wise to be aware of potential banana skins if not.
