You have fog lights, we have 6 cylinders
I can live with that trade off, we may never need the fog lights, you will never have the extra 2 cylinders

I would say i have averaged 25k pa for the last 25 years, as far north as Glasgow, south Brighton / Cornwall, all climates and would give odds there are less than 5 times it was foggy enough to use the front fog lights, when on they were no better than dipped beams In my experience, there a waste of time. BMW clearly agree as the M / M lite don’t have the, Do I need a 6 cylinder car? Not really, but there’s far more enjoyment from it than a set of fog lights so I’m happy in my choice I’m sure your happy with your fog lights and 4 cylinders.

True
Coming from two diesels, the difference in acceleration is strange / weird / crazy The diesels were so smooth and linear you could pull to ban speeds without even thinking about it, still relatively low revs, and very orderly The petrol will do the same, but press a touch harder and oh my days, noise, drama, push into seat and relentless when the diesel starts to flag around 80, all under 4500 revs. If my mileage hadn’t dropped I would still have the GC, but given my commute is now 1m it’s rude not to have a 6cy petrol

I've had three 3 Litre 6 cylinder diesel BMWs over the years, all of them with front fog lights (a 5 series and 2 x X3s). Since my daily commute has dropped to 0, it's petrol pops and bangs all the way to Sainsbury's from now on. Until internal combustion engines are banned and all cars are just a battery and 53 front facing fog lights of course.

Personally I would spec an M340i with the detuned B48 4-cylinder engine from the new 318i if I could. You're never going to need all that power. And a 6-cylinder engine weighs more than the 4-cyl, and you need bigger brakes, stronger transmission etc, which all adds weight. Yes please, an M340i with the detuned B48 is what I'd be hoping BMW launch at some point.

It appears to be the 'M Technology package' (in the UK at least).
Looks like it's an additional radiator and potentially larger brake discs. Not sure how that affects the front fog lights though...

I had a 330e on demo which had the M-Sport Plus pack and that had the upgraded brakes but also had fog lights. I suspect the M340i has the extra radiator and to cool it has extra cooling vents meaning no fog lights.

Not sure if it also helps cooling the brakes. But the M Sport plus package isn't the upgraded brakes talked about here. It's a separate package called M technology package and in the UK have bigger callipers 374mm vs standard 348mm and an extra oil cooling radiator under the front bumper. For £300 a bit of a deal. I have it on my car and the brakes are noticeably bigger than the stand M performance brakes.

Thought I had better google them, incase we’ve missed a trick Seems there made redundant by led running lights: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-ne...en-to-use-them Explains why Bmw don’t worry about not having then on some cars, just a placebo...

Agreed, doesn't make sense why you can't have it on the G21
