Answer me this.. Why buy a mac to run windows?

The lawyers in my office buy a mac and ONLY run windows.... Does not compute..
I personally don't. Every program I use runs on mac and windows so theres no need for me to dual boot.

I love the display, the feel of the aluminum case, the minimalistic design, the solid feel, absolutely no freaking stickers anywhere. Those cheap laptops feel cheap. There is a reason why they're that cheap and its because they use shitty parts.

There are some things I hate about the MBP though. Only display out is a mini display port, and the screen can reflect a little too much sometimes.

Pretty sure you don't know what your talking about on what I underlined. Maybe dell or HP, but like I said you can't think of all PC's falling under those shitty companies.

This is just a realllly quick search using mac store and best buy.

Mac:
15-inch: 2.0 GHz

2.0GHz quad-core
Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz
500GB 5400-rpm1
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6490M with 256MB GDDR5
Built-in battery (7 hours)2
$1,799.00

Toshiba:

16-inch: 2.0ghz
2.0ghz quad-core
Intel Core i7
6GB DDR3
640GB 5400rpm
Intel HD Graphics
$949.99

The only huge difference spec wise is the graphics card, which they have the same thing (asus) with an aftermarket video card for 999.99.

If your an average user or even an above average user/gamer your paying for the brand name/ios.

You're looking at it a bit too simplistically. The same SPECS do not mean the same quality of the parts themselves. I haven't followed macs in ages, but years ago they had the same specs as the PC equivalent, but the quality of the parts blew PCs outta the water. My *assumption* that is the Mac parts are still above the PCs by a measurable amount.

Now is the quality of the parts worth a grand? hell no. You are paying a premium for the name.

Asus makes the hardware for Macs under an Apple contract. You are buying Mac parts and then I'd put Linux on it. Apple OSs and Windows are both crap.

And neither has wobbly windows...the greatest feature on any computer...ever!

I can buy you 4GBs of ram for $100 and I can buy 4GBs of ram for $400.

Every time i go to bestbuy to buy something i go by the laptop section and see what new stuff they have. 9/10 laptops feel like shit. The screen feels like its plastic and most of them you can actually push in.

Think of it this way. Would you rather have an M3 or an Evo fixed up to be the same speed. It's not just the specs, its the overall experiance

That's why I said quickly browsing best buy, where I would not buy from.

Also how do you know if you are getting the 400$ 4 gigs of ram in your mac, and how do you know you aren't getting it in your pc? Regardless you said you are getting junk but it's all quality brands. Even if you were getting the same 4 gigs but not nearly as fast like I said earlier 90% of mac purchasers are buying the name because they won't be utilizing the full potential of the mac and its glorious 400$ ram.

Good choice in going with Asus. I picked up a G73JH gaming laptop almost a year ago (i7-720QM, ATi Mobility Radeon HD5870, 6GB RAM, 1GB Video RAM, 500 GB HDD, etc.) for $900 (quite a deal, almost 40% off if I remember) at, of all places, Best Buy.

[Note: I know most people knock Best Buy (and for good reason) BUT very occasionally, I've noticed that Best Buy has some strange, amazing deals. E.g., I bought my 50" Pioneer Elite Kuro plasma TV, right about the time Pioneer announced their departure from the plasma TV market, for a measly $1800. A week later, it jumped back up to its original price of $3300.]
