Just search on Google "blue BMW drivers" and hundreds of articles will pop up about jerks, @ss6oles, etc.

In the meantime I would REALLY appreciate if BMW will come up with some beautiful colors. Nothing against blue but this brand truly overplayed it. Brown, green, violet, red's, yellows, and metallic in between are just as beautiful.
BMW has a history of some great browns, greens, reds, violets and yellows. They can't help it if they aren't optioned as much as the blues. Face it, most BMW buyers even considering a bold color/M car/M sport car are men. Most men cannot step out of the Black/Gray/White/Silver box. Those that do venture out are relatively safe with a blue. Goes like this:

Guy sees a cool color on this board and compliments the owner. Guy heads down to his local dealer with Wife/SO.

Guy: I saw a really cool (red/purple/orange/green/yellow) individual M online.

Dealer: We can order that. So, you'll have one of those then?

Guy: No, just black.

Dealer: We sold the last black one. I have a (then-current shade of) blue one available.

Guy: Eh, honey what do you think?

Wife/SO: It's kinda bright.

Dealer: Oooh, we have an Austin Yellow one too.

Wife's face:

Guy: We'll take the blue.

LOL, First of all, that's not what I said. Where do you see any comments about the intelligence?
Or in your opinion jerks and a..holes are just the stupid ones?

There is so much blue that it started generic discussions. That's the point.

Seems to me they're all referencing the same study from the UK, so not really different sources.

I read this tread with great interest since Blue is my favorite color, and I agree with many others that OP lined up the colors nicely in the order of my preference in any event, I would buy a car in any of those blues depending on availability on the particular model that I like.

I have no issues if BMW has an obsession in offering different shades of blue. I mean, would we rather them offering 2 different dozen shades of white or black?

I have favored Estoril Blue myself and have had both E36 and E46 M3's in that color. I had LeMans blue on a E46 M3 that was stunning and have had a F80 M3 in Tanzanite Blue. For the M340i I optioned for the Tanzanite over the Portimao Blue. Just my 2 cents.

Saw a Portimau Blue 330i M Sport today in person for the first time and I was very underwhelmed by the color. It was far too purple and dare I say feminine to be called blue. I was never a huge fan of Estoril Blue before, but I'd take it all day over this new color. Avus, San Marino, or Hera Mica are far more attractive BMW blues. JMHO.

Nice comparison. I think Estoril is still the best by a good margin, but Portimao looks to edge out San Marino.

Love Portimao blue. We all have our favourite blues, but for me it is the best one available on the M440i. I've been flipping between all three prior to placing my order for days now.

ARB is lovely, but I think on a grey day is a bit on the grey side. And looks best with the Cerium grey kidney grill trim vs the shadow line; however, I don't like the cerium grey trim so much on that kidney grille, and also requires Cerium grey mirrors - which I don't like.

Tanzanite looks gorgeous in the right light. But for me a bit dull/flat in anything cloudy and I'm in the UK. And figured it will show the dirt.

Portimao - I saw it in the flesh, in the rain, and it still looked vibrant, exciting. I'm not sure what people are doing in photographs of it, but they are mangling the colour a lot so it's hard to gauge from photos. It does look odd in some photos! I was much more relaxed seeing it for real.

So of the three, and given that it doesn't carry the premium of Tanzanite, it was PMB for my order. (With black shadowline surround, and the body coloured mirrors that come with the M440i and that option in the UK).

And now the wait...

I’m taking delivery of my San Marina blue M340i here in Spain in December. The San Marino is an individual colour and cost €6000. I’m also getting the carbon fiber roof at €3300 and the full Marino red seats and dash. I’ll post photos when it arrives
