Instrument cluster & iDrive brightness

Hi. Is there an option to adjust the brightness of the idrive screen and instrument cluster? They always seem to be very dull day and night. Cant seem to find a way to adjust these.

This only seems to adjust all buttons except the idrive screen and cluster

Just been out to my car..

The wheel in picture 1 does dim (at least in the dark).

I know there is an auto dim during the day depending on ambient lighting...

The dimmer wheel and the brightness setting within iDrive only affect the screens at night. When your car is in daytime mode (anytime HVAC LCD is white instead of orange), there is no manual control for screen brightness. You are 100% at the mercy of the car's daytime auto-dimming. Which, as many of us have found out the hard way, is set so aggressively on this car that many aftermarkets tints can force your displays to remain too dim, or regularly cycle back and forth between bright and dim (especially if you don't live in a particular sunny locale). BMW is aware, and has issued no fix as of yet.

All of that is why I started working on a device to give you manual control of both the instrument cluster and control screen during the day. The unit in the video was just a first stab. I should have a new, less obtrusive version done in another few days that will stash out of the way on top of the steering column...
