Finally got to try Assisted Driving Plus

I took a trip to NY this weekend and decided to try the "Assisted Driving Plus". It is AMAZING!! You have to make sure the camera is enabled (mine was turned off by default) Once you get into a traffic jam situation (under 40mph) a message comes up telling you that "assisted Driving plus is Available", once you see that just tap the "mode" switch and sit back and relax! The lights on the steering wheel turn green and you are just along for the ride.

So odd, I've used assisted driving plus before and it seemed to work fine but as I mentioned in another post, my virtual cockpit doesn't show vehicles around me. I wonder if it's a software version thing.

Assisted Driving View seems to currently only be available on G20 models built in July 2019 or later and came from the factory with the 07.2019.xx software build (and have Driving Assistance Pro). For whatever reason - even updating to the latest software does not seem to enable this feature on older G20's although it can be coded to enable it (at least thats what others have said).

Nice! I have been so excited to try this - I thought it was enabled - but I'll have to double check to make sure the eye camera is turned on. What does it consider a traffic jam situation? It is just anything under 40mph? I drive local roads (divided with 4 lanes total) to work and am under 40mph but it has never said I can enable it, curious if I can enable this during those times or if I need to wait until it is truly a traffic jam.

For those of you who have driven a TESLA on autopilot, how does this compare?

JayPichardo ,

That is really nice! My 2020 M340Xi, with a manufacture date of 6/26, came with Active Driving Assistant Pro (5AU) as part of Driving Assistance Package (ZDA) and Driving Assistance Package (ZDY) with Extended Traffic Jam (5AR). I have used this feature on both highway at speed and in traffic -- BUT still am not toally confident in it.

Having said that, I notice that your photos show:
  • The Driving Assist icon in the center of the digital dash
  • And your steering wheel spoke lights come on
On my car, the steering wheel spoke lights do not come on (they seem to only light up up, when using the auto back up) and my driving assist icon appears on the left side of digital dash -- is this because of my car having heads up display or is it a software update?

This thread is really making me wonder if I should be getting this package. Thing that's limiting me is the only stocked one my dealer has is Portimao blue and I was really wanting alpine white coming from estoril blue...

Hmm gotta go test drive this now as I'd probably use it quite a bit

Not sure why it says "highway" only and over 40 mph I use mine on any roads at any speeds and works just fine. Combined with auto speed limit adjust pretty much drives on its own.
Just wished it knew how to "roundabout" without going YOU TAKE OVER NOW!!!

Are you talking about Assisted Driving Mode or Assisted Driving Plus?...

Video of Assisted Driving Plus ... you basically let the car drive w/o the need to put your hands on the steering wheel at all.

It looks awesome and I can't wait to finally try this on a road that works for me. The intention is to use it while sitting in traffic.

Good Video but don't think mine does as well in construction areas when there is nobody in front of me.

In Europe your'e not allowed to keep your hands of the wheel. If you do the car reminds you to put them back 😊.

AFAIK!

Tried it today. I think up till something like 10kmh maybe 15 kmh I can leave is alone. But it does keep an eye on my eyes. But if I drive faster it wants me to touch the wheel.

Guy in this video is using it in Poland.

I'm using it in the UK and it's exactly the same. When in traffic, as long as you are looking straight ahead you don't have to hold the steering wheel. You can see what happens if you are not looking ahead on the video at around 1:35. On the motorways you have to squeeze the steering wheel every so often. Video at around 2:30 shows that situation.

Sales guy was saying that its not very popular option when I was placing an order. I'm extremely happy that I ticked that option. I think it's great.

I have a question about the driving plus. I'm currently considering (in the near future) getting an X3 M40i or M340i with the full driving assist pro package.

My next job will have a long commute (~60 miles each way on US limited access highway for a majority of the trip) without rush hour interference. The Extended traffic jam assist looks awesome, but I'm primarily concerned with open freeway features (driving around 75 mph).

-How does the tech work as far as letting you relax on open road?
-Has anyone compared with Cadilac's supercruise handsfree feature?
