Tracking a new build

Anyone know where or how you track a new build order? I've googled and some websites say you use the VIN and others say its the order number. I've asked the dealer but he said you can't track it.

Think most people just hound BMW Genius team for updates. Online chat from the bmw.co.uk site. Think you need to know your BMW order number though. (as opposed one assigned by dealer)

Didn't realise that they ahd a online chat. Only placed the order last Monday and I was originally told end September /start of October. Just got a expected delivery date of 6th September!

Your dealer will have an order number on the factory prefixed "AG". With this number you will be able to request a production update for your vehicle from BMW on-line chat as previously mentioned.

That's quick. I ordered mine a few weeks ago and was told end of September for delivery. Thought I'd check again tonight after reading your post but no change for me, still the 20th of September

I was told on Monday that they had a build slot scheduled and any amendments had to be made that day, no exceptions. Guess I got really lucky.

Mines the same. Ordered my 340i last Monday and was told by the dealer expect the car w/c 11th October. He called me the next morning stating the date had been moved forward a month now having a confirmed build slot. The car is now expected w/c 13th September. So 7 weeks from order to hopefully delivery. The sales rep is now on holiday until 23rd August. He said hopefully when he gets back he can provide me with a VIN to track my order.
