Yes I understand. What I'm saying was when the F30 debuted, link below, they chose that specific model which was underwhelming compared to the e90. This new one is really nice and a much bigger impact.

Looks great to me. I don't think the timing is going to work out for me to get one even if I extend my lease the full six months but I'm going to give it a shot.

Yes, I agree with you and can't believe they chose that configuration to introduce the F30 pretty plain

Massive improvement over the F30. A couple of design cues that bother me. You can consider the car ugly, but at least you can't consider it cheap looking like the F30. The car actually looks like a premium car. Nothing about the F30 told you that it was a car in the premium segment. This new G chassis actually looks premium.

I went to Dubai years ago and the grille reminds me of this:

Impressive performance numbers. Looks good inside.
I like the 3 series. Will skip this generation in hope of better exterior design in the next.
Judging by the size it is a 5-series with a 3-series badge.

What was the biggest criticism the new 5 series G30 received? It looks boring and too similar to its outgoing model.

BMW seemed to have listened, and therefore the designers were bolder with the design of the new 3 series G20 to distinguish it from the F30. Yet, people are criticizing that certain elements like its grill and tail lights are too bold, different now.

IMO, overall the car looks great to me and i'm glad that BMW took more chances with this model. Although I'll admit my initial thought on the grill is lukewarm but I'm confident that once I see it in person, I'll find that it suits the new design of the car as a whole. I believe it might even grow on the hardest critics in this forum.

Taking chances are great. I agree with you. But there's a reason it's called a chance. It can go either way.

In the case of the grills it went very wrong.

Not true -

A real bmw fan would see that the lights are a modern twist on what they did on the e46 and the bumpers have the same design language as every other m sport bumper

Also, the tires are Michelin Pilot 4S but they are RFT yes?
There are currently no RFT tires except the PS2.
The car is available with a space saver tire.

I don't get the criticisms from 2-series owners in this thread. The 2-series is fugly (yes, even the M2). It's like a short, stumpy guy who lifts at the gym too much to compensate...

The G20 is a Leonardo da Vinci painting by comparison.

(And my F30 looks outdated in comparison to the G20).

Whoever designed that front grill should be fired and never allowed in the Auto industry again...absolutely hideous on an otherwise decent looking facelift.

I like it , I think it will look good in person. A few sports package iterations later and I think this model will be a hit.

Owner of an E46 and F80, skipped the E90 as I could not stomach the design of the sedan.
