Hey all,

Exploring options for a remap/piggyback for my M340.

I had planned to go down the Evolve 'remote remap' option but it looks like my DME will most likely be locked and as I understand it these need to be 'bench' unlocked?

Also I believe the DME can become locked again after every software update?

Is there a way round this/does any company do a rock solid remap yet?

If not I'm considering maybe a JB4.

Thoughts?

I enquired with Evolve about their remote remap option and they said BMW is locking OBD tuning on G series cars.

DMS have been around for years tuning BMWs though... and 470bhp is a good result!

Interesting that DMS are offering one, I'm assuming it would have to a trip to them (won't be happening anytime soon) though? And I'm also wondering if updates will remove the map?

DMS do not have the unlock ready at the moment. Early G20s were ok. July onwards locked. I guess that makes sense that G21s locked. I'm waiting for them due to their good rep.

Ok thanks. Mine is a March G20 so maybe unlocked? However I'm considering upgrading to the latest update so I guess that will lock it?

It sounds like you're assuming blaz is talking about July 2020 with his reference to "July onwards" but I wonder if he means July 2019? If so that would explain his comment about G21's being locked as they weren't introduced until after July 2019; it would also mean all M340i's would be locked because, again, I I don't think they were introduced until post July 2019?

Just joined the forum, hello all

Currently running a DMS fettled, 330e Saloon on an 18 plate, very impressed with DMS, and how it pulls and pulls, came from a C63, CSL, M Coupe to name a few and paid the extra to have the unlimited (mobile service) for the un-mapping and re-mapping.

Current car running H&R springs, M3 wheels, and some carbon bits and bobs. Just ordered a G20 Touring- 330e M Sport Pro Edition, delivery end of March hopefully !! So looking forward to getting that tastefully played with!!

But looks like DMS have unlocked these unless I am mistaken, will check with them when they come to unmap my current car to std.

Looks like a great forum, I am a moderator over on the CSL register if we have any old CSL owners on here? DazBlackCSL on that one ..

What threw me was your comment about it making sense that G21's were locked - they were available from late 2019 and hence early versions of those (like the OP's) could also be unlocked if July 2020 was the cut-off date?

Ah apologies - I think I was confused by the M340i G21 availability
