Not sure if I should just make another thread for this or what - don't want to put the dealer in a bind but also not sure what the forum protocol here would be.

Edit - called the dealership and let them know I was sticking with the other one, sounds like dealers are getting allocation numbers today so I wanted to give them their slot back ASAP.

Start of production is first week of February for both though so if you want to get in now for Tanzanite / Dravit you'll have a quick turnaround.

2021 330e xDrive Sedan

Below is my timeline so far. As of this time I am not sure where the vehicle is being manufactured. The dealer tells me all xDrive are being made in Germany. When I call the BMW genius line sometimes I get Mexico and sometimes I get Germany. Can somebody shed some light on this?

If your VIN starts with a W it is made in Germany, a 3 it is made in Mexico. Most 3 series for the US market are coming from Mexico.

Ready for transport means it is sitting in a lot at the factory or at the port. It seems people reporting on this site have been in this stage for 10-14 calendar days. Reasonable expectation to be on a ship by end of this week. That assumes you are going to the East coast. If your delivery port is in California those dates seem less predictable.

Just got my ship name - Appolon Highway (run by K-line) - from the BMW Genius line and found the ship's schedule. It is supposed to arrive at port in Charleston, SC on Feb 15 and leave (the ship, that is) on Feb 16. I am taking SC Performance Center delivery (it certainly is nice to live less than 10 miles from the Performance Center )

Anyone here know the approximate amount of time between the car arriving at port and my Performance Center delivery? I read up to 2 weeks elsewhere on bimmerpost, but that may be outdated at this point. I am not having any port-installed options on my incoming 2021 M340i.

Edit: Just got an e-mail from the dealership I am using; they have set possible delivery dates at the Performance Center as March 15 (or within 10 days of that timeframe, probably meaning March 15-25, though I guess in theory it might mean March 5-25). That's one month after arrival at the port which is to be honest fine with me. Probably having delivery on the 15th then!

I'm doing a Performance Center delivery too, but mine just entered production. I was hoping around Mid March, but based on your case, probably around April time then.

Unfortunately unable to track much from Canada.

Found out that VIN number was assigned and was scheduled for assembly on Jan 25th 2021.
Car was born on Jan 28th and was dispatched showing "In Transit" on Jan 29th.

I will have to bug my dealer to find out which date and ship it is going on.

I'm excited.

Grey/Cognac/Oak is my car and very happy with it. Grey looks different depending on lighting. Easier to keep clean than I expected even with Minnesota road salt. Good choice, it's a fun car.

Jet black wheels too? I honestly went back and forth over whether or not the Cognac would look good with the Mineral Grey. I had a loaner with Cognac and loved it so decided to pull the trigger on it.

No, I liked cerium with grey. I am not a huge fan of black wheels and trim, but a lot of people are. Cognac is great, and I'm coming from a long line of black interiors.

Sure you may get it a little faster than me if you're in the East Coast.

I didn't keep an activity log but I can tell you guys these;

- I ordered mine on November 7th, on a nice and warm Saturday evening
- ~2.5 weeks after I got a production #. Then ~2 weeks later I got a VIN assigned.
- ~3 weeks after it said Production Began, once production began it went to `Dispatched from Factory` status in about ~5 days
- ~2 weeks it sit on the port at Bremerhaven.
- On January 26th it said in Transit, Called genius on February 1st said car left the port on January 30th and told me it is expected to arrive here west coast on February 28th, OMG!!!

- I have the ship name and number etc. I am tracking but oh lord it's in english channel right now.....

I don't know what's going on but in total I have been waiting for 86 days as of February 1st 2021. In total it's likely that it will be 130 days before I see it in front of my eyes

If you live in USA and ordering G20, it will be manufactured in Mexico (most cases). I have got my G20 xdrive back in Nov 2020, that was manufactured in Mexico. Even my dealer wasn't aware of this, he was saying it is coming from Germany, but when I called the Genius and did some research in this forum & tracking the shipment it was confirmed that it's made in Mexico.

Unless in 2021 they have made any changes in where G20 will be manufactured.

Correct. My m340 xDrive is being built in Mexico right now. Also, not so sure about Mexico builds taking a lot longer than German builds. My car was assigned a VIN and In Production 2 days after I placed the order. Hoping it doesn't take super long!!

On another note, had anyone recently had the M Performance Exhaust added at the port? If so, how long did it take for them to install it at the port before it was in transit to the dealer?
