I travel lots on the Channel Tunnel, and at night they ask you to turn the headlights off when boarding the train. Unfortunately, the new headlights don't allow you to do that at night when the car is moving. Yet another nanny system thinking it knows best.

Apologies, if this has already been mentioned but this thread is quite long now!

I noticed today that the 1 > 8 preset keys aren't just for radio stations, you can default them also to Addresses Among other things. It's the little things but just jumping in the car and pressing 8, sets the Nav to my home address. I always like to have the Nav on for traffic/road works.

Love finding these little Gems in my 2020 330e M Sport

That's weird, so does it mean anyone can purchase and enable this in g20? Will they replace the current suspension system or it's just a software tweak to mimic adaptive suspension.

I'm betting they are going to want models with adaptive suspension to pay for it yearly going forward. You will probably get a 1-3 years with it on a new car then have to pay yearly after your trial runs out. I would guess 3 years due to many people leasing.

Saturday I learned how absurdly difficult it is to remove the grill on the g20. Way harder than it was for the f30. You really have to yank and pull like you plan to break the thing.

It looks like BMW had plans of doing this since 2019 (Checkout the below links) that Adaptive M Suspension can be activated as a connected drive and most likely the new cars they have built since July 2020 even though you haven't bought Adaptive M Suspension, it's already onboarded but disabled until you purchase. Hopefully this is true, so that I can purchase this in the future for my G20 (I have missed to add this during my custom order).

I learned that while using manual (via gearshift) if you press Park it'll force the stick back over to the right. Weirded me out at first, but def a cool feature if you forget to slide it back over yourself.

I would prefer this to be the case but have not seen it offered on my 2021 model yet. I don't even have the "adaptive" button on my center console to click.

The car will also engage the parking brake automatically if you exit while Auto Hold is active. I make sure to apply and double check the parking brake myself, though, as this could be a bad habit to carry into other cars that might not do the same.

I agree about some features being a bad habit if carried over to other cars.

For ex - With my SQ5, A4 and 330i, when I come to a stop, I just turn the car off. I don't put it in P or turn the handbrake in. Turning it off does both automatically (though sometimes parking brake doesn't engage and I need to apply it manually). I drove my A7 and once, forgot I was in it and did what I do in the other cars. Shifter was in D. Car started rolling forward. Thankfully there was nothing in front or behind or anywhere near the car. Scary situation!

Yes this is a brilliantly useful feature. The only thing is I have 5 actual radio stations tuned which only leaves 3 buttons left to program features or destinations or whatever. They could do with some kind of shift key or mode key to increase the capacity.

The reason why it doesn't always put the handbrake on is because your seatbelt is still on. If you turn the car off when the seat belt is off and the door is open, but will be applied automatically

I learned that if I put the car in park while the engine is running and then open the door and get out of the car....the car will shut off!

I guess it's a setting? Because in my car it doesn't. I've put it in P, gotten out with the engine running and walked away to get the trash can and stuff, and I've also locked it with the engine running for quick errands (like dropping mail in the mail box) and it has never shut off.

I learned my two different phone car chargers do not work in the cigarette lighter port up front by the cupholders, but they work perfectly fine in the rear lighter port. Wasted 2 hours at the dealer and they proved with the bmw branded charger that the front lighter port is fine. Apparently the front port is a true cigarette lighter port and is slightly different shaped which causes many accessories to not make solid contact.

That makes sense now, couldn't figure out why my dashcam, that plugs into the cigarette lighter port, didn't power up the cam. Thanks!

I created a favorite radio stations list and it now only scrolls through the ones I like. All 8 buttons available for other things then.

Rear defroster

I just noticed that my m340 rear defroster does not heat up the upper portion of the rear windshield eventhough it has lines.
Anyone has the same experience?

No wonder the cup wireless charger never has a charge. Thanks!

i know owners of 330 and 340 with this behaviour in rear defroster near rear upper brake light. Look at the heat lines, ger cutted surrounding break light. Really dont know why they cut them this way. I have a 320 touring and defrosts all rear windshield
