I’ll be honest, on paper the M3/M4 is supposed to be a better track focused car. However, IMO, a real life comparison, the m340’s newer tech makes it feel more planted, quicker due to the added traction of AWD, and it feels just as raw with the MPE, adaptive suspension, 20” low profile wheels and millisecond swift shifts that give you a bit of the jolt just like the dual clutch did. With the MP parts it’s also just as aggressive looking. It wasn’t my first choice, but I’m glad I pulled the trigger on it due to the timing of the G82 M4.
I was surprised because my X3 M40 really felt too linear and average compared to something like an X3M. Even though it’s quick and loud, it’s feel more luxury than sporty. So I thought the m340i would have a similar feeling. I was wrong. The m340 feels raw and racy like a track car and it’s really close to an F8x, again IMO. I can’t wait to actually drive a G82 M4. I think it is going to be even better than the last gen! And I’m in the camp where the oversized grill has sort of grown on me. For now, I’m so happy with this purchase. I just have to figure out a way to get the burble back without having to unlock the ECU and DME. I don’t know why it’s gone on the 2021’s?!? |

Fast forward a year and I'm replacing a B9 SQ5 lease so I drive an X3M40i (before power bump) and an X3M. It was clear to me there was a very significant difference between those two. Both great, but the big M a true performance car that is a freak in how fast and capable it is. The G8X in AWD is going to be bonkers. If it didn't look so bananas ugly I'd be tempted but the M340i ticks a lot of boxes and blurs the M line, especially for street driving. |

If you also figure out a way to unlock it any other way you can let us know, I for one would be interested to read on it. Btw, sweet garage, I like the simplistic look to it but also how it stands out! |

Awesome build. Sporting an F30 340i now, but next car will be very similar to this, minus the black wheels and black grille.
Congrats, don't get into too much trouble with that thing!

Looks awesome and congratulations!
I wish we had the roads in here for those type of wheels.
