Flyers did it 3 games into the year to Laviolette. Too bad they won't do that to Hakstol

It's a different league now. Sure, goal scorers are better...but so are the goalies.

Good as Matthews, Laine and McDavid are (three that could probably do it) I'd be shocked if we see a 50 in 50 any time soon. They're having a hell of a time just getting to 50 in 80 is seems...maybe they need to start juicing the puck...like they do in baseball.

But if we're betting on the next one...of those 3, Laine would be my first vote...McDavid second...Matthews third. And I'll quote this sometime later if I'm right.

Speaking of the Flyers and Pens, I was thinking of going to that Stadium series game at the Linc before the season started. But shit after this Flyers start... not spending that kind of money to watch the Flyers lose by 4 goals. Brutal.

They werent as expensive as I thought they'd be. Pretty reasonable.

Have you been to an outdoor game before? Is it worth all the hype around it?

I haven't been but I've heard it's not great, seated too far away from the ice... Although if I got a chance to attend an outdoor game at a reasonable price I probably wouldn't pass on the opportunity.

So, that's part of it...I haven't. And since I'm willing to bet that even the most expensive seat has a shitty view, why not just make it a party in the cheapest seats there?

I always figured those stadium games were just an excuse to get drunk in the cold/snow. The game was just icing on the cake, if you cared to be distracted a bit.

The seating arrangements are never really very good - sitting too far away to see anything, sitting at a weird angle to the ice, etc.

In this area, it also seems like it's the people who don't really care about hockey and just have tons of money to blow and want to say they were there. (Status symbol...) (Edit: I say as I type on a BMW blog...lol)

They come home and shrivel up under the pressure of the rowdy home crowd.

As a Caps fan, I did not see anything wrong with Malkin's (counter)hit on Oshie that resulted in a 5 minute major and game misconduct for Malkin.

Basically seemed like Oshie ran into Malkin's shoulder with his face. Tall guy executing a classic counterhit on a shorter guy.

Something wrong with me for not thinking this play deserved the big penalties it garnered?
