Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 are one brand/model of great studless winter tires.

Michelin XIcexi3 are usually preferred for having outstanding snow/ice traction, but do better on the dry surfaces during winter.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta are also highly regarded, but usually more expensive and harder to find locally in case of urgent need for service.

Check tirerack.com's ratings and test results....

About 4 seasons is typical...depends on your driving distance and style

No, lol....never did and don't. Don't own any stock and don't know anyone there! Just a long time, happy customer. Used to work for one of the so-called "Big Three" in Detroit, but retired and went back to work for a Tier I supplier.

I can't understand why BMW would offer an extremely popular color like Glacier Silver Metallic for the Sport and Luxury models but not for the top trim M Sport. Glacier Silver was available for all three 2018 F30 models and I hope that it will be for the G20 as well.

Probably sales, I tend to see 3ers (especially m-sports) mostly in black, white, and grey of all colors, and then once in a blue moon i spot estoril blue.

What if the engine is on accidentally all night long (even days if you're away on vacation) inside of closed garage? It can potentially fill your entire house with CO2 or even burn it down! As an engineer, I know that no technology is perfect and it can malfunction, and this remote start thing can kill someone. Is the benefit surpasses the risk? I don't think so. This is a perfect example of Why-Tech instead of being a really useful Hi-Tech.
You don't see the benefit of remote start? Really? And you're an engineer? On really hot days or cold days you don't want to start it up to get the air moving? When it's freezing cold outside you don't want to get the windshield/mirrors defrosted and your engine at a normal temperature before you pull out? It takes 5 mins max to heat up the car. We have it on our Honda and it's very useful in the winter since our car is parked outside.

If you have trouble with pocket dialing then you're obviously doing something wrong especially if you say you are an engineer. I've never had a pocket dial in my life and I've had various phones. So how do you pocket start a car? On Hondas you have to press the lock button twice and hold the start button for about 3-5 seconds.

My new F250 is the first vehicle I’ve owned with remote start and while I’ve never wanted one it really is brilliant and I use it much more than I would have thought.

Neat feature is if it’s cold out side it automatically turns on the heat and heated seats. When hot it turns on the AC and AC seats.

My Wife would not get the BMW X3 because it did not offer Remote Start, she decided on a (GASP) Cadillac SRX. She is due next year for a new vehicle, this is good news for me, I do not care for her car much.

I can see the appeal of leaving your car idling from a cold start for ages, in a manner that every car maker advises against, being a big hit with the lease-payment, CPO value protection, balloon-payment GMFV corporate three-year pump-and-dumpers before they move onto the new shiny. Others, not so much

Also here in Britain, or “Thief Island” as it’s not uncommonly known, remote start basically means you can arrange for your car to be stolen from you outside your house without having to be knifed or your home invaded for it. So it’ll be popular here too...

Trying, but unsuccessfully, to understand this comment. Remote start systems time out, usually after 10-15 minutes maximum, so "ages" seems unrelated. That's if left unattended. Most will enter in less time, once the HVAC has had a good head start. I'm not sure how the other economic factors apply, as the fuel used for a few minutes at idle is de minimis, but can provide a far-more-than offsetting benefit in melting windshield ice or reducing a hot cabin of 150F or more in some areas to a tolerable temperature for entry. Seems like a great bargain!

I want my ventilated seats with all-way power control, my luxury widescreen dashboard television and 20" wheels that weigh 50 kg per corner. I also want ///Massive Brakes adding another 25kg per corner for when I go auto-xing, and a metric ton of additional plastic on the bumpers so I can say I have a different car. I want my radar controls, my buttons for everything, more airbags than Congress and oh I also want it to weigh under 3,000 lb and drive exactly like an E46, which was the last decent car BMW made.

BMW, welcome to the modern enthusiasts' car market!

Well, idling straight from cold with a richer mixture washes oil off the bores. 10,000 miles a year on a three-year lease deal, who cares? For the last x0 years car manufacturers everywhere have been saying the best way to warm a car up is to drive it, not let it idle. Nor is it great for emissions, but do I understand that a lot of people don't care about those. Now I understand that sometimes you can't do that when you live in basically Antarctic conditions, but people managed before with blankets and block heaters.

Oh, and idling your car is actually illegal in the UK and Germany, irrespective of the weather.

My last six in total BMW and MB are Glacier or Brillant (MB) silver.

Guess I'll be driving a non M sport 330i if I go the new G20 route.

I need a silver vehicle to replace the silver MB ML350 to match the new X3M40i in silver
