2020 M340i with 600 miles - exhaust got quieter?

My last car was a non-MPPSK F30 340i.

When I picked my M340i up 2 weeks ago, the exhaust impressed me a lot. In Sport+ there were nice bangs on upshifts around 4-5k RPM and much louder burbles and pops than my last car.

At around 400 miles these exhaust characteristics have disappeared completely. Now the car sounds like an F30 340i when I let off the throttle, burbles are very quiet and muddy

When the engine is cold the exhaust goes back to sounding good, but within minutes the engine warms and the burbles and upshift bangs disappear completely.

Anyone else with a couple hundred miles on their M340i observed the same thing? I remember my F30 340i was usually slightly louder burble-wise when it was cold, although I don't recall the exhaust characteristics changing significantly in the first 600 miles.

5/6 update: I'm now at 900 miles. Been filling up with 93 at no-name gas stations but finally put a tank of Shell "V-power nitro+" (wow that's a lot of words) in my car. It sounds awesome, much more burbles.

Not the same car or engine but I also feel my 2018 X340i had a lot more burbles and pops when I first bought it.

Drive it harder. Redline in 2nd or 3d and drop throttle see what happens

Are you using the same gas station? I've found that certain brands make my exhaust pop a lot more.

Also I wonder if resetting driving adaption is still a thing on G20.

I've only filled up a couple times and so far it's been a different station each time. I'll go back to the first one after my current tank is empty and see what happens.

I switched myself to a guest user, which I imagine resets the driving adaption settings? This had no effect.

Did you just drive an eco pro-type trip? Maybe the car is still learning how aggressive your driving style is. Let us know how it goes.

I suppose I am still in the break in period (roughly adhering to the 4500 RPM guideline, although not trying to invoke that discussion right now). Maybe I should relax the next 1000 miles and see what happens.

I have been doing comfort mode on the highway. Maybe I'll try a late night of driving like a turd on empty roads and see what happens

Unrelated - I used your EQ settings for 3.5 years in my last car (F30 w/HK), sounded excellent. Curious if a G20 is in your future as I'm interested to hear what you think about the sound system

Interested in the EQ settings too. I think I've got it pretty good now but always open to new suggestions.

Would that apply to the G20 at all, they are similar HK systems right. I'm a total novice in the audio dept

From what I hear the G20's HK system doesn't have an EQ.

That's awesome. I think I mentioned this in that thread, but that's what's cool about having a stock system... I can help people I never met improve theirs. 😎

I’ve got 600 miles so far. You’re not going to get cool sounds unless you’re in sport mode or you floor it in comfort mode.

Try sport individual and downshift approaching a stop
