The 07/2019.39 is installed on my g20 last Thursday. I must say that Apple Carplay seems to connect better then with the 03/2019 software. Other then that I noticed Spotify as media option outside of Apple Carplay.

07/2019.39 iDrive Update

I also had the dealer update iDrive to 07/2019.39 last week. I noticed several cosmetic enhancements with instrument cluster maps, icons, equalizer control. They fixed the radio "Presets" media source not being saved and the radio volume going up after the personal assistant speaks and returns control. I haven't checked the slow thumbwheel response yet.

I noticed one new bug when saving the "Presets" in a programmable memory button. When you push the memory button the screen does not change to the Presets list, but it will change the media source to Presets if its not already current.

Ever since I got my iDrive updated I have not had any Bluetooth and car play problems... thank god.. and yeah minor visual upgrades that actually look nice,

Same here. Bluetooth and Apple Carplay do work smooth now.

Got the update at dealer today, which took around 1.5 hour. Apple Carplay seems work better now.

What are you guys telling them at the dealer to get it updated? I need my rear armrest fixed the leather is bunching up. Obviously that's not a software updatable item lol.

Just make an appointment at your dealer and mention that you want the iDrive update as OTA is not up and running yet. It takes around 1 hour and is free of charge as it’s part of your warrantee. In my case I received the brandnew car in august with the March software, so better they update it for free!

Have any of you with the July update experienced that there is no difference in Sport vs Comfort steering mode? My Sport steering is now the same as Comfort, and I have checked that settings are correct. My car is from March but updated to the latest software (2019.07.39).

Spoke with the regional engineer. I asked if OTA updates work in the US. He responded that BMW has turned it off it was on for the X5 only but they hit some bugs they plan on turning it back on in the next couple months. Let me know if anyone has heard differently. Apparently, when it is turned back on it will update everything including I-Step. We shall see.

I made an appointment to get my car's software update and they were extremely reluctant on upgrading to the latest version. Eventually a genuis told me to wait for the OTA updates, and would not update the software. I complained greatly about the car's bluetooth connection and having to factory reset the car's software every 1.5 weeks, but to no avail, they wouldn't upgrade the software.

They did show me how to reboot the head unit, but it seemed rather ridiculous that they're so not confident about the software on the car.

It will correct the Bluetooth/Carplay problems. You know better than them from the forum. My car was horrible. Hasn't been a problem in a month since I got the update.

Exact same situation as I'm in. Long time ago I had to deal with a company that preferred to have me use a not supported work around instead of applying the designated solution.

Might be a daft question but for the life of me, cannot find the software version in the car. Where is it?
Cannot find Software Update option under General settings, and I have paid for full connected services package.

I dropped my car of service today and requested a software upgrade mentioning that CarPlay is not working great and no Spotify . They couldn't find the update as it didn't show up as required then I showed a screenshot of the 7/2019 update someone had posted on here and they were able to find it 😉. Car has now been updated so might want to try the above if dealers are hesitant to update.
